What type of scope mount/rail would I be looking for that attaches to the rails on the side of he gun and then curves up so there is a rail on top of the gun (to mount a scope)?

I have a tri rail and would like to install a scope up top without having to get a whole new quad rail setup...

What's the name for this type of mount I would be looking for?

Thanks!

Are you talking AKs? I think you are, but can you be more specific? "Gun" is pretty vague.

It is for an AK but not for the AK side mount that is on all aks....its a mount that will put on the side rails of a forearm i got....

That, if it were at a 90 degree angle instead of 30...ideally I'd like the scope to sit directly on top as if I had a top rail... is there a name for that?

Thanks for the link and for looking though!

Maybe a claw mount, like HK guns use?

OP probably wants something like this.

If I understand correctly, you have an AK-variant, and have a tri-rail handguard you would like to install. This handguard does not have rails on the top for mounting optics, so you would like to find a scope mount that attaches to the side of the tri-rail, and places the scope in a normal, scout position, which would be over the handguards. I assume you have an appropriate optic (e.g. red dot, holographic, IER, etc.).

I don't know of anything that fits this description.

Good luck.

I think the OP is looking fo a POSP/PSO or PU style mount that attaches to his railed forearm.

I don't know of anyone that makes this.

Dark horse nailed it right on the head! That is the description of what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the recommendations all but haven't found the 'perfect' rail yet...hmmm seems like it would be more common than it apparently is but I guess most just get a quad rail for this application instead of working with the tri rail...

Which handguard do you have?

Several companies make dedicated scout scope mounts that MAY work with the setup you have.

Ultimak (http://ultimak.com/BuyAK.htm) comes to mind...
