I'm in Riverside County but I'm willing to drive a bit. Are there any handgun ranges that allow double tap practice? Most that I've been to have a 1rd/sec rule. That's fine for 90% of my shooting but it's nice to keep up the double tap skill set for self defense.

Burro Canyon private bay
Angeles Range allows double tap

All firing ranges that I know of, indoor and outdoor in greater LA area, all allow for controlled pairs and double taps, even at ranges that have 1 round per second rule.

Sharpshooters is in Torrance.
yes, they allow doubles and triples.
As long as you are doing controlled fire.

If you hit their wires they get pissed and will charge you for it.

get a private range at burro canyon with 3 other friends and you can practice rapid fire and even practice drawing from a holster. Only $20 a person unless your are a member and its a weekday then you can use the private bays for free;)

In Riversaide county go to www.coronasportsmensclub.com. We're a private gun club. Range use is unlimited for members and it's completly private. You can do pretty much whatever you like as long as it's not unsafe or stupid.

I think rainbow range (so. of temecula) is also good with it. they've got "no rapid fire" posted, but there's been double tapping going on the last time or two I was there.

To give you a better idea how nice Lytle Creek is, they allow you to go thru a 30 round pre ban mag as fast as you can pull the trigger, so double taps with a handgun is no big deal.:D
