Me son keeps on bugging me to get a .22 so when I'm with him on the reactive range I have something to do other than just sitting there and chiding him as to his lack of trigger discipline.

I don't want another plain old .22 so I was thinking about the Walther G22 or the Rhineland Arms R22, does anyone have any experience with either or indeed another recommendation (not including 10/22 makeovers)? Thanks.

I got one of the first G22's available in CA. I put a little POS Simmons scope on it and first time out, sighted it in, then shot 2 clips full(20rds)in under a nickle at 75ft. I was immediately impressed. This was the first time I had shot it. I now regularly shoot sub-3/8 groups at 50ft indoors no problem all shots touching. If you can get past the unusal bullpup config. I highly suggest it. If your in the North Bay let me know you can come shoot mine. BTW the above groups were with Rem bulk golden bullet wally world crap. I never bothered to try decent ammo after the first shoot!

My Rhineland R22 kit finally got here on Tuesday, if you can wait I'll give you a range report in 7-8 days.

I got my R22 a couple of weeks ago. I am super impressed by its accuracy. I do have ejection problems though. Out of about 200 rounds 6-7 failed to eject.

Thanks everyone, I'd appreciate the updates on the R22... I got to "cuddle" one today, it sure is purdy.

I have a Walther G22. It shoots the lights out. I have an Ultradot 4 mounted on mine. It's super reliable. I've shot over 1000rnds of Win Dynapoint through mine without cleaning, just some light oil is all i added. I'm going to keep shooting without cleaning to see how long it takes before it start jamming. So far so good. It's a great little plinker.

I handled one of the R22 rifles. It's appears nicely put together. I'm passing on it since I've already got several .22 rifles and the Sig Mosquito should be available shortly.

My local store was looking for $400 for the R22... is that about average?
