Calgunners,
Update 10/7/09: FINISH STRONG! Grab some more flyers and make sure we have covered the state. Please make sure to add your drop locations to the list (link below) so we can follow up and see where some outreach would be appropriate. The antis are ramping up their efforts all (not to mention the newspaper editorials), let's drown them out! SHOW 'EM THAT CALGUNS CAN BEAT THEM NOW, AND EVERY TIME! Call, write, fax, email the Gov, then do it again!

Brandon -
I'm in the Whittier area, and can hit the local Big 5, nearby Wal Marts, Turners in Norwalk, and my local firing range (OC Indoor Range).
If there is any way to get them before Saturday, I'm heading out to our monthly shooting clinic out at Raahauges range in Norco this Sat. I could have some for the people we shoot with, drop some at store out there, and leave some more in the Firearms Training Associates building for their classes.

Great response, all!
Quick note: the plan will be to get a box of these flyers into the hands of one Calgunner in each listed area (poss two in high-population areas); from there, they will need to be divvied up among the volunteers and dropped at the businesses. Trying to keep shipping and handling to a minimum- it adds up!
One more request to help with the costs - target is now 50,000 flyers distributed statewide in 7 days. Ask your friends to toss a few tax-deductible bucks CGF's way (http://calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/donate); for less than a nickel a flyer we'll be educating and mobilizing tens of thousands of Californians- it's a small price to pay for killing these bills!

Is there any way to post these up on some type of file here. Then we can print some up on our own. I can cover N. San Diego County area. How much longer does Arnold have to veto the bill? Is there enough time for this effort to be practical? Don't get me wrong, what you are doing is great and the right thing. I'm just wondering if it will make a significant impact. I'm asking because I don't know. Not because I'm presuming that it is pointless.
We have 30 days from passage to get a veto. Yes, we have enough time but we need to *move*.

Hi,
I used the NRA "one-click" system to email/spam the gov and the Stateist knobs that are pushing this agenda last night.
I am in on your effort to get the word out about this thoroughly half-assed legislation.
From San Jose and with love for my country's constitution,
Bob

I'll cover Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, O'side, Fallbrook. I've got somewhat of a network already, so I might be able to hit Temecula and Hemet via friends. I can give four - six hours a day till the areas get saturated.
Also - anyone in these areas, PM me, lets get together and I'll get some flyers to you. Also, if you have ideas as to where these can be distributed, LMK if you can't hit them and I'll make the trip.
I'll hit the gun shops, Wally Worlds, Turners, fishing shops, ship chandlers, fishing charter companies, etc. Any other ideas for distribution sites...post em up. Maybe start a different thread for that?

Just donated, thanks for the easy links.
I have a crazy work schedule and I don't want to waste resources by committing to distributing fliers that I can't. But I plan on being at the ISI IDPA (http://www.isishootists.com/) match in Piru this weekend and I'd be happy to bring a bunch there, and I can distribute with some tactical guys I train with. Could also likely hit Martin B. Retting, Inc. (http://www.retting.com/) and LAX Range (http://www.laxrange.com/) by the weekend to see if they'd accept them.
How many fliers are in a box that you would ship?
I'm in the Santa Monica/Culver City/West LA area.

Also missing Elite Firearms and Saddleback Valley Guns - both off of I-5 at Crown Valley Parkway. Another one not on the list is the new shop in Santa Ana called T&A Armory, as well as OC Armory in Lake Forest.
T&A is the only one of these others that I could hit. Let me know if you need me to hit that one up for you, it's not too far from where I work.

I'd love to distribute flyers, but my area is not listed in the OP.
You do realize there are around 150,000 people in Humboldt County? ;)
It's not LA, but it's something, and there are a heck of a lot of gun owners out here. I was at the range on Sunday, and there were a lot of folks that had never heard of these bills. Others thought AB962 banned all ammo sales in CA. Education is sorely needed here- I'll go to the local FFLs to hand them out. In the meantime I'll print some up from the .pdf myself.

I also work part time as an RSO at a gun range and I could pass these out to hundreds of gun owners over the weekend. PLEASE contact me!!!

To: Cabela's California Customers
From: Cabela's Communications
Subject: California Assembly Bill 962
Date: Sept. 22, 2009
We are writing to inform you of pending legislation that will restrict purchases of handgun ammunition in California and will terminate our ability to service your needs for certain products.
On Friday, Sept. 11, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962, by a 44-31 vote.
Among other regulations, AB 962 would:
• Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition.
• Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a
manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a
vendor or employee.
• Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a
face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide
evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.
That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:
• The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
• The date of the sale or other transaction.
• The purchaser's or transferee's driver's license or other identification number and the
state in which it was issued.
• The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
• The purchaser's or transferee's signature.
• The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction.
• The purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number.
• The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth.
The bill is on the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, where it awaits his consideration. He will have until Oct. 11 to sign or veto the bill. If he does not veto the bill, it will become law.
If you wish to comment on AB 962, you may contact Gov. Schwarzenegger by phone at (916) 445-2841, or via fax at (916) 558-3160. To e-mail Gov. Schwarzenegger, visit
http://gov.ca.gov/interact
We encourage all Cabela's customers who participate in the shooting sports to contact Gov. Schwarzenegger to voice their opposition to this initiative, which will limit your opportunities to shop with Cabela's, and will restrict the sale of handgun ammunition everywhere in California.

LEGISLATION THAT WILL AFFECT YOUR BUSINESS
My name is Michael Auria. I’d like to get the attached Calgun supported flyer in the hands of someone who can get this distributed to your California customers. If this is a duplicate effort, please recycle this message and thank you for your time and consideration.
The attached flyer refers to 2 bills which have reached California Governor Schwarzenegger’s desk. While both bills will have a widespread negative impact, I call your attention to AB962 which will ban Internet/Mail Order Ammo sales for California residents.
Please encourage your California customer’s to follow the instructions in the flyer to make their voice heard and get this message to as many fellow shooters as possible.

Okay capntroy, I'll get in touch with you as soon as I get the flyers. Do me a favor and send me a PM so I'm sure not to forget. Thanks for your help!
I printed off 100 copies of the 2-fold flyer today and dropped them by the Walmart in Pico rivera on Washington. At first I was told "no" by the guy at the ammo counter, but eventually I found my way to the store manager and she took them and promised to put them on the counter. I'll stop back by and see if she actually did...here's hoping.
Was anyone else able to successfully place flyers today? I'm curious as to the success you've been having at the big box retailers, esp. Walmart and Big 5.

FINAL PDF IS HERE! http://benjamincannon.net/gun/CGab962sb585%20FINAL.pdf
75 flyers printed and on the counter at Turner's Reseda.
This is becoming known, when I walked in and said i wanted to put some flyers on the counter the manager asked 'What are they for?'
I started to answer as I pulled them out but before I could he saw them and said 'Yes, those!'
Very cool!

I ran 150 of the single sided and will drop off at Bright Spot in the morning, with a note to Chris and Dan, on the way to work. I just didn't make it there tonight.
I'll see if I can make some more copies and get them to the Riverside Big 5's and Centerfire.

Mike's being modest- his creative talents made this a viable project and kept things headed in the right direction. I highly recommend anyone needing design work contact Mike for a fantastic eye for both aesthetic and practical concepts!
Thanks... it was a collaborative effort with Brandon...
It is designed to be printed on glossy paper which causes the print and screen version to look muted. It looks a bit dead on regular copy paper too.
If we need a screen version for anything, let me know and I can richen up a separate copy.
I'm ready for further orders...

Download them from the link above.

Does anybody go near Rauhagges? I can go out there over the weekend, but maybe someone can get there sooner?

Added my name to the spreadsheet. I'll run copies in small batches and distribute as I can. That way, Calguns can save the money on the fliers and shipping.
Has anyone got Bass Pro Shops in Cucamonga covered? That place would be an absolute nightmare if the ammo was behind the counter...

Take the stack of printed pages and flip them over and put them back into your printer

URGENT MATTER REGARDING PENDING CALIFORNIA
Please contact me for additional information on this issue.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

I delivered the fliers I printed last night. The small gunshops and bait stores had no problems with putting the fliers out. Second Amendment Sports, and Big 5 said that they would have to get the managers approval, so I left fliers but I don't know if they will be put out or not. A gentlman looking at rifles at big 5 asked for a flier, and said he would post it at work, which was great.
Walmart said I would have to talk to the Manager. I talked to the manager and she said that call was beyond her authority. She called someone and talked to them, they told her that I would have to talk to Walmart Corporate Offices which is 1 800 wal-mart. I didn't call them.
Anyone else have that problem? If so, did you contact them and what are the details?

I might will be able to hit some areas of San Bernadino/Riverside. Mostly places on the west side, Cold War Shooters is about as far east as I can usually get, maybe Grand Terrace to the south, and Devore to the north. If you can get someone to hit the areas east of the 215, that would help me a bunch. Calgunners,
UPDATE 9/25: FLYERS ARE DONE!! If your name and address was added to the spreadsheet, expect a USPS Priority box to arrive in 1-2 days. We will have boxes available at the Lytle Creek Shoot-n-Que this weekend (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=220139) (Sat., Sept. 26); if you want to help us save money on shipping, please pick yours up there or if you're local to the LA Area please PM blackberg to arrange an alternative pickup arrangement. If you are going to pick yours up locally (or pick them up for the Calgunner who is leading the distribution in your area), please make sure to let blackberg and the distribution contact know so we don't double-ship.

Brandon -awesome news about the flyers! We'll be blanketing the state soon...
I may have missed mention of it, but are there any plans to have gobs of these flyers ready for the Del Mar gunshow next weekend. Not only at the CalGuns booth, but enough to give to the retailers to put on their tables also...

Not sure how much that will help, but I already have the I.E. west side pretty much covered as soon as my flyers arrive.
I've gotten much of Riverside already. Both Big 5's (don't know if they actually put the flyers out as they had to "ask the manager and district rep.", Bright Spot pawn and Ammo Bros in Ontario and Turners in San Bernardino. At least so far. I haven't been able to get to Centerfire Arms as I've gotten home too late to get there.
Someone needs to cover Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga.
Someone on here was asking about Southern Riverside and Corona - which I haven't gotten to.
Glad I can help.

Maybe Calgunners need to educate these folks...
BIG5 on North Tustin, Orange, manager says HE LIKES THUMBPRINTING and almost threw me out of the store.
Found out from guys at Evans that one of their Certified (by THE GOV) Trainers (2 time Iraqi vet) was DROS'ed for an AIRSOFT gun.
I don't know if this is an isolated case, but BIG5 seems GUN UNFRIENDLY.
I explained to everyone I stopped at that I'm new to this, and just wanted permission to drop off flyers.
Was really surprised by this.
