Hey yall
Does anyone know what a upsidedown L means thats after the year of a Mosin 91/30. Example : 1943L but the L is upsidedown, may look like a "r".

It's a traditional thing, not a religion thing (Religion wasn't looked at kindly in the Soviet era). Basically it means "1930 of God" if you were to translate it literally. To translate it effectively you say "1930"

I pick up a 91/30 on sunday that has that mark, plus what looks like brass or gold colored bands on the upper handguard. The stock has some markings on the r-side buttstock. Just wondering.

The letter stands for the Russian word for 'year'. The Russian word is "god". The first letter in this word is the one stamped on your rifle. The letter is pronounced "geh".

Reference books are a wonderful thing.
