I've been dying for a sig p229ST forever now and when it FINALLY got released, ordnance outsellers wouldn't send it because our DOJ hadn't approved it yet. So I let my dream drift away for a few months until I realized I can hard chrome/nickel finish a regular p229 to look like the ST. Now I can finish the p229 but I want the p229 rail in .40 w/ satin/nickel/chrome but it seems like the DOJ only leaves me with the p229 rail in 9mm or the p229 w/o rail .40. Why can't I have the p229 rail .40!?!?!?!?

If AB 352 passes, you will be jumping to that P229 9mm rail in no time.

I think they are wrong, check this: DOJ legal sigs (http://justice.hdcdojnet.state.ca.us/safeguns/safeguns.taf?_function=list&_UserReference=9FE1EB98642DFA3D42C8EDC2)

cg, the link doesn't work, could you repost it?
jjc, I don't get why I would be jumping over the p229 rail if ab 352 passes. I tried to google it and it came up with micro stamping serial numbers or some sort. could you explain further?

What about the P229ST appeals to you? Its color, its heft, or both? A nickel+hard-chrome combination may not match well. Once the frame is nickel-plated, it's then possible to hard-chrome over that.

I am not sure what else you have in your collection, but another excellent pistol to consider is the P226ST. It's not much bigger, and its slide, like that of the P226, is thinner than that of the P229 or P229ST.

I guess he meant that you'd jump and get whatever you can if said bill were to pass and it's signed by the Governor.

There is no pistol that features so called "micro-stamping" or any stamping or marking technology in order for tke make model and serial number to be imprinted on the case of the round when fired.

Also the chance that some manufacturers would pull their products from the Califoria market is pretty high. Just like the reason you can't get many pistols legally sold in other states because of the so called "safety" list now. Some gun makers just don't even bother to sell their firearms to anyone in California.

The author namely Assemblyman Paul Koretz has created AB 352 to prevent you from aquiring the means of defense because he is a gun prohibitionist.

Here is the link again: DOJ certified Sigs (http://justice.hdcdojnet.state.ca.us/safeguns/safeguns.taf?_function=list&_UserReference=D01AC7F9DBB4007042C96B9A)
Hope it works. But maybe I misunderstood, I thought you meant P229R 40B (or BSS) and no, it is not a DAK. If your heart is totally set on P229ST then it is not on the list yet, but I am sure it will be soon.
For some reason the link will not work. Go to Impact Gunds (http://www.impactguns.com/)
click on handguns and then on CA DOJ certified list and fill in Sigarms, that will give you the list.

I'm not familiar with the Sig line, but I do know that there is provision in the handgun certification rules now that allows manufacturers to certify a gun if it differs only by the finish from a gun already on the approved list. For instance, CZ's 75B steel frame in black finish is approved. They can have the duotone model added onto the list because it differs from the approved model only by it's finish. Of course, if the manufacturer doesn't want to go through the hassle of sending a letter to the DOJ or see very little market for the gun, they won't bother. If the Sig you want differs only by the finish of an approved model, maybe a kind letter to Sigarms extolling the virtues of their handguns might get them to have it added to the list.

I'm glad you wrote this response, I forgot to mention that I already contacted sig a few months back concerning the p229st. They said if they decide to submit to california, it will be this fall, but currently they do not have any plans to submit to the DOJ since they are unsure of their market here. They do not want to create 10 rd magazines and etc if there is no demand.

I've been looking to buy a sig for a while now, but I only wanted a compact in .40. now that you mention it, I realize that plating a regular 229 will not be the same since the frame is made of aluminum instead of steel...it just keeps getting better and better.....

Maybe my FFL guy did something wrong, but I bought one on the internet in early June and just picked up my P229ST on Saturday after my ten day wait. It's awesome. My Dad and I put about 40 rounds through it that afternoon. Best gun I ever shot.

Good on you! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Since I didn't shoot that well with it I think I'll get the 226R first and then get a used 229r .40to see if my accuracy improves, if it does maybe then I'll get a new one.

I bought it off GunsAmerica.com from Doctor Scents Outfitters and they shipped to my FFL guy. I did the paperwork in June and picked it up last Saturday. They said they had a couple more left. That's why I'm thinking of selling that P229 Nickel on another post.
