I remember all the fear mongering about how the streets would run red with Blood! The blood of children and kittens!

Seeing as how that hasn't happened, I guess we get to give the antis a big, fat "I told ya so!"
:D

Should we honor its demise with a 21-gun salute?

maybe a 21 burst salute?

Perhaps there is a member here who owns 21 different guns and he can fire a shot from each gun?

If such a person does exist and is willing to do it, I hope he'll post the video on the Internet.

Man we should have planed something! We could have had everybody go to selected ranges in their area with all previously banned rifles and have a 2min standing rapid fire session(with ranges cooperation), record it all, and send it to that "The Shoulder Thing That Goes UP" lady!

But seriously, I remember when it all came up i the news. I wasn't a member here yet but I followed it in the news then on here and Arfcom for a while until i had the money and wasn't scurred to get into the mix lol. I still remember when i asked local shops if we could have certain rifles yet and they laughed at me.

Pure crazyness over at AR15.com that day. There were multiple build parties going on, and about 15 dozen picture threads.

I wasn't into guns back then and I don't even remember hearing about it at all in the news.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but were ALL types of lowers illegal? Did anything like oll exist? If no, what's stopping the liberals here from setting up a law like that one

Not that I want them too but just asking

my memory is fuzzy but I believe that ban was mostly about features so fully functional ARs were not banned, but flash hider, forward grips, etc were not allowed on fully functional ARs. So there was no need for OLLs. The named models had the detachable magazines and two or more other features, so manufacturers could just take the features off and call them a different name, e.g. if named, Colt AR-15 Extreme Marauder(fictitious name) that came with flash hider and forward grip can become Colt Peace and Love with no flash hider and forward grip, so even with a pistol grip it remained legal.

and manufacturing of mags over 10 round capacity was banned but possession and transfer were still legal.

Effectively the ban was pretty similar to the current CA "features ban" except that you were allowed to have one feature instead of none and bayonet lugs were considered a feature. Basically you ended up with plain-jane ARs like this.
