My Robinson M96 has a bullet button. It allows me to use a spent cartridge to release the magazine.

Is a cartridge (5.56) without a bullet attached to it still a tool? The law specifically says that a 'bullet' is a tool.....I am confussed.

If you can use your finger or hand in any way, then you should be worried. If not, its safe to say your fine.

A bullet is a tool.

Any other device or implement - aside from your finger - is a tool.

And iff you can operate your M96's BB with a fingertip, it's not a Bullet Button -- and your rifle is an AW if it has 12276.1PC features attached to it.

Please make sure no part of your body can activate your purported Bullet Button device. If it can, you need to strip the rifle down until you get an approrpriate maglock.

A bullet is mentioned as a tool to make sure it's clear that it's OK. It's not the only tool possible.

Calguns is a website. That doesn't mean it's the only website. ;) Although for some it might be close to it.

You can use things like the tip of a ballpoint pen, a car key and many other items just too long to list! And the magazine will drop out of your rifle. I just picked up a rare 4-7/8 cleaning rod for my late war type 99 Arisaka. which should also push a "bullet button" clear of the well on a OLL too...

I submit that I can file my thumbnail into a configuration that will do the same job as a bullet.

I use my finger as a tool every morning when I pick my nose.:D. I will be damned if I stick a bullet up that cave.

a "spent" cartridge has no bullet. BB's are designed for live or dummy rounds as tools. much like the old mauser and springfield floorplates.

Seriously? You're going to lob a softball like that in a CGN thread? I will resist.... I will resist.... I will resist... I will resist..........

Sir, I must say that I reject this assertion that Calguns is not the only website! ;)

I have a small steel fingertip guitar pick that I keep on my right ring finger when shooting my Bushmaster at the range. I have a Raddlock on the rifle.

I took a Dremel and made the point of the pick a slight bit more tapered at the end. Works like a charm.

It's a tool, and it is not affixed to the rifle.

And I'm certain it would make an excellent nose-picking device as well.:43:

This occured to me as well; but like I said a few posts earlier, there are lots of things that we can use. A stupid bullet button law is supposed to discourage the next psycho? Gimme a break...

Laws like the bullet button make me want to puke.

If someone with an AR has evil intent, forget it. Assemble one of your 30 round "rebuild kits", replace the stupid bullet button with the original mag release, and rock and roll.

I'm sure the Crips and the Bloods never remove their bullet buttons and only use ten round mags. And bought their guns at an FFL store and they are traceable to the original owner, the perpetrator.

It's about control, not gun control. And lloking good to the sniveling ignorant masses that vote these idiots in because they think an anti-gun legislator is keeping them safe.

Safe from what? Whom? Single occupant police cars patrol the east and west side residential neighborhoods here in the peoples' republik of Santa Cruz. Most of the cops are chasing the bums downtown and the tourists at the beach. City hall worries about somebody smoking a cigarette behind a building; while the drug dealers take over the public parks. Law enforcement has never been a priority, for the city hall socialists with other pipe dreams. Those imbeciles built a $43 million artists' colony for the hippies, instead of subsidized homes for their own LEOs and firefighters who cannot afford to live near their beats.

A POS grabbed a woman the other night and tried to rape her in the bushes. She had to deal with him all by herself with a kick in the nuts and biting his fingers. The last victim wasn't so lucky and the suspect remains on the loose.

Only a fool doesn't own a gun!

Yep. And only a fool would venture forth in most areas of CA without having it ready to be deployed for protection.

It's out of control. The more dangerous it gets, the more these legislators try to thwart and take away our means of self-protection.

Judged by twelve has never been more relevant than it is right now.
Can't have a CCW?
Self protection isn't good cause?

Fine, then catch me with my concealed. Good luck.

Better than getting dead.

Funny thing about this place, Bodger. We actually had an incident; where a marijuana grower shot it out with a thief in his own backyard and killed him too. Not guilty. A friend of mine killed his pistol packing speed freak brother with a 12 guage shotgun up in the mountains. Same results in court.

Which is why it was a good idea to buy some guns; while we could do it without leaving a footprint behind. Anything that is registered can be confiscated easily by heavily armed goons...
