I'm trying to transfer into the state a handgun that's on the list, but at a significantly lower price than offered anywhere around here. I called a couple of dealers out here, and they've told me that I'll have to pay CA Sales tax on the item. Is this true?

I understand that there will be a DROS fee, but I think it's a ripoff to ask for sales tax. I already laughed at the one guy who told me it was going to be $100 or 10% of the purchase price, whichever was higher, as his fee.

Fair enough, thanks for the link. I should have checked myself.

I'm in SoCal, I'll probably go through High Desert Storm if I get this weapon transferred.
