After doing a little research on this i discovered that trusts and corporations can purchase NFA weapons. Would this fly in California?

yes, but the weapon has to be CA legal, unless you have all the special permits that apply to the weapon, AW permit, DD permit, MG permit.

Purchasing a CA-legal NFA firearm in CA is difficult due to the lack of NFA dealers in the state willing to transfer to us. The only NFA stuff legal in CA without needing CADOJ permits are AOWs (except pen guns) and C&R SBS/SBR. Right now, the only option open to us is to make your own AOW after you get an approved Form 1. Depending on the configuration of the AOW, it could still fall under the AW regulations, so you have to deal with that as well. So, if you want to VFG an AR-pistol, you can, but you still have to run it with a fixed-mag.

I was thinking all this in terms of suppressors for rifle and pistol

nope, a trust/corp won't help you get a suppressor in CA. The trust/corp would eliminate the CLEO signoff, but they are not legal for private ownership.

The only exemptions to the Suppressor ban is for military, LE agencies, and NFA dealers/manufacturers.
