I live in San Diego and am relatively new to the scene of shooting. Ive been to all the indoor ranges. Boring after a while. Ive heard of Orosco Ridge and that may be the closest but i also heard that its closed during the fire season.

is there anywhere else i can shoot outdoors within a 1 hour drive from say, mission valley?

out by Jamul is the official Broke back Mountain (BBM) site, I went out there today and hit both the 450 and 600 yd targets with my M-1903A3 using irons, and suppressed the crap out of those two targets with my SVT-40

Too close to the border to use tannerite. Border Patrol might think the Cartels are invading!

Is that because BBM is on private land? Or is it one of those places that needs to be shown where to go?

Also, I read about some place by the border, Smith Canyon .. Anyone been there? Is it still open? And if it is, how do I get there?

Carrizo creek... take 8 east appx 60 miles past campo to the jamul exit (if I am not mistaken) Its hwy 81... when you get off there will be a shell and chevron station to the right... follow that road to the T and go left... keep going and you will start to see shooting spots... flag a border patrol agent and aske them where a good spot is... they will tell you.

Orozco ridge in Ramona is closed until november....

google "carrizo creek shooting area"

Its a beautiful drive...

We should set up a group shoot at a BLM land somewhere once the fire dangers go down.
