My local guy has them for $1080. It's a great looking pistol but is it worth it? Anyone own one?

Was that at Turners where you saw it?

Don't take this the wrong way, SP, but I can tell when someone is really dead set on buying something. It seems you are obsessing on this pistol (which is a good thing - don't read that part wrong), and thus actually have already made up your mind to purchase one.
So, are you asking (again) if the price is right? Or is the question, is it worth the general price of $1080.

If the first is true, you most likely own a computer and I'd bet you own a phone, so you can freely call around and price check or skip on over to Gun Broker and see what they're going for there. I looked before when you posted this originally and $1080 seems about going rate within a hundred bucks or so, IIRC.
If the second is what you're getting at (value/quality vs. price tag), then I think it's more a matter of preference since the query is fairly subjective. Sorry. I don't own one, so I can't try to sway your opinion with specifics. However, I say buy it and risk buyers remorse over I-shoulda-got-that-when-I-had-the-chance syndrome. The latter of the two is much more painful IMO.

If you're still in doubt, go to your favorite dealer, see if they've got one to fondle and weigh the two points above to determine if it's right for you.

We've had one of the Raptors through the shop. Seems like Kimber took the time to finish this one off the way they should. I like th scallop grasping grooves as thats a feature that I've not seen on anything that I can remember. Considering that a Springfield or Para of the like level would run in the same ballpark I think you're ok. My shop is in Nor Cal so the opinion that I'm leaving isn't biased.

Thanks for the reply donbing, I did get a chance to handle a few and they look good, but I'm wondering how they shoot. I own several Kimbers, a TLE that I love and a CDP Pro that's kind of lack luster. My 30th day is coming up and I'm ready for my next handgun. It wil either be the Raptor or I buy a Glock 22 and have my dealer send it off to Robar to do this:

Got the Robar (should see it in six weeks) and a rain check on the sale price of the Raptor in case I decide on that as well later. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
