who knows their origins, that's what's interesting about the photo. maybe they're cz vz24s (mine looks just like that), taken from the slovak army which fought with the nazis? maybe bottom of the barrel? maybe g98s cut down? the speculation is part of the fun of the pic.

This one looks like the Continuation War. It's not a PPSh, but rather a Suomi SMG.

IMO some are colorized and some are not. There are a few German source photos in the series.

Great photos. I note that dumb truck that fires rockets in BF1942.

I've never seen so many svt-40's in old pictures before. I didn't think they saw much action. These look like propoganda photo ops anyway.

Can anyone translate some of the signs?

The red sign low on the brick wall is actually romanian. It said something about god and children I couldn't make out the smaller writing just the bigger bold writing.. i could probably decipher more if I went back with the russian also.

if i'm not mistaken, its from the leningrad siege. "During bombardment, the other side of the street is safer" or something.

more people died in leningrad alone than in the entire US and UK armed forces in ww2. Interesting to think about.
