I just talked with Vulcan, dealers cost is $167 for the new CA legal lower. Maybe we can get together and find 10 or more people and a super cool FFL to do the dealing and maybe get them for around $200 a pop? Any interest in this?

I'd be very interested. I'm looking to purchase one soon anyway, so this might be the way to go.

Can you build a pistol? I'm in either way.

I think I could go for one, along with a coworker here. So, make it 2 over here.

No federal law would prevent you from turning a rifle into a pistol and there always is the California drop test crap.

There's another group buy possibility - a lower parts kit from a reputable mfr. I'd be in for one of those too. I'd prefer one without the buttstock, but I'm easy.

The safety certification would be the problem, as I see it.

You'd have to tranfer the lower as a rifle in CA, since it's not on The List. You couldn't then build it as a pistol, since it would technically be a short barreled rifle (SBR), which would be an illegal AW in California.

the problem will be the location of the FFL. If the dealer is not close, the shipping and transfer will run the price up to retail, $250 at my dealer.

So unless Vulcan were making and submitting for approval a pistol lower....that sucks. Oh well.

I’d be in if it was in So Cal….

I'm thinking it would probably cost $200 for the lower plus tax and DROS. If they sold them for $200 out the door, they'd make nothing because of the $30 dros and shipping. So we're hopefully looking at $230ish out the door. Who all is in the Bay Area and who all is in the south? Maybe we can divide it up and get two buys going. Anyone know an FFL that's gun owner/wallet friendly?

I think I'm definately out on this one. I think I'm just going to buy a couple at a store. For the proposed pricing, the time usually required for group purchases to complete, and the fact that it looks like nobody actually has approached an FFL to see if there's any interest, I figure I can be shooting one for 3+ weeks before the GP completes, if an FFL is interested.

It's a good idea, but not enough savings on a cheap part like the Lower to make it worth possibly using $30 worth of gas to pick one up and get home.

Good luck.

However, if we could get something together with an FFL to save a few hundred on an M1A, I'd be interested in a couple more to keep my Socom company. mmmmm WhiteFeather.... http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm pretty sure this is the first GB in history for Hesse/Vulcan stuff. As Richard Hesse's reputatiion precedes him (by a bunch), I can't see why anyone wants a Hesse anything.

Ultimate Hesse GB might be through JoeKen Firearms. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
