Is it legal for us to buy them from out of state and legally import them due to the age of the guns?

If you're talking about the real thing they are C&R due to age and exempt from the safety test. If you're talking about the new ones made by SA I believe they are on the list and are ok as well.

I am talking about the actual issued 1911. Thanks.

If they are not on the "list" I don't see how you can get them here without a C&R license.

C&R handguns are exempt from the safety testing and can be imported through a dealer.

I'll add the exemption is for the gun. It doesn't matter if the purchaser is a licensed collector or not.

Thanks, EOD. I found out through another board that all handguns over 50 years old can be imported without having to go through the safey tests.

If any of you find a dealer who will do this for you, can you post who it is here?

Thanks.

Actually did it, not just speculating.

Any FFL dealer should be able to do it for you.
