I pretty much hate you too. All the fun toys! I'm not that far from ya, one of these days I'll have to meet up with you at olde west pawn there in redding. Or if you make it over to Eureka by chance, gimme a yell

Nice choice of scope! :-)

6.5x284 maybe nice.... but it eats up barrels.... your barrel will be gone not long after you finish your load developement... :-(

Not totally true, I've only shot off about 100 rounds in LD before I found it. I'm happy. :D

BigBamBoo, Very nice setup. You are going to love the 6.5-284. The ballistic numbers are just amazing with this round. I am a huge SMK fanboy but they failed me in the 6.5 :(. Be sure to give the Berger VLD's a try. They give me the accuracy plus the knock down power of a hunting round all in one.

Stan, bring that sexxy thang to soCal so I can try it out on a yote!
I know you will, but remember to post pics and a report when you pop the cherry.

I still have it. I just wanted a tactical rifle as well....something I could pack around, etc. Not to excited about the caliber, but plan on having it re-barreled in maybe 6.5x47 or something when I shoot out the 6.5x284. They say barrel life is about 1000rds with the 284 so probably in about a year or so.

Take care,Stan

Dunno how the x47L is going to feed in that long action, but you may get lucky.

The 6.5-284 is a dang good LR coyote and deer busting round. You may find you really like it. If not, you'll have it shot out in a year or less. :)

Holy **** Stan this is getting rediculous. I dont even have my .458 SOCOM yet and you already have like 4 more guns! This will definitely be the ticked for those yotes that you wanted to bust waaaay out there like we talked about.

My 6.5x284 has 1,011 rounds through it and the throat has moved forward .042". I expect that it will go to at least 1,500 rounds before I set the barrel back, I'll probably set it back .125" and try to get another 500-1,000 rounds out of it.

Here's what the 6.5x284 will do at long distance:

congrats on the long shot!
