I am hopping someone can assist me. I have an old pistol (1800's), which I believe is marked "Woodward", XXX5 serial number, a double barrell which spins and you can only fire the top barrell. There is no trigger guard. I have checked the internet and so far am unsuccessful. I would appreciate the assistance.

Get some photos up of this pistol.
Is it a caplock or a flintlock?
You might have something of considerable value there.
Woodward is the name of an old gunmaker who built guns of value and prestige similar to James Purdey and Sons and Holland and Holland.
Put photos up here and I'd be happy to help you identify what you have.
Could be an cheap gun that an alleyway shop stamped the Woodward name on with spurious intent. Happened a lot back then.
If it's the real thing, I can point you in the direction of the old factory records to get the maker's data (from the orig build date) if it still exists.
