I was just wondering if the DOJ will charge you the 200$ application fee if your application is denied?

No.
Because, DOJ has nothing to do with your ATF Form 7 (5310.12) or your $200 application fee.

If you cannot qualify for the FFL you get your money back. By the way, if you go for an 07 it only costs $150 for three years. It includes all of the privileges of the 01.

07 is $150.00 and then another $150.00 for the renewal.

01 is $200.00 with a $90.00 renewal, that is $10.00 cheaper.

May want to check out the advantages and disadvantages.

07-FFL also has to pay yearly ITAR fees ($2250.00).

It is correct that only the first three years are cheaper on the 07.

The ITAR fees only apply if you are working on munitions designed for the military without a predominant civilian use. There is an unsourced claim elsewhere that the DDTC is requiring all 07's to register though. I will be submitting a Commodities Jurisdiction request to the DDTC in a few weeks and I guess I will find out.
