i know everyone thinks that the mosin m44 is the generally regarded as the loudest milsurp gun out there. i too once held that opinion, but now, after today, and after clearing the benches on either side of me with angry explicatives, i have a new contender for the title of loudest gun: the Mousqueton de Artillerie Modèle Modifié 1916, or an m16 artilleryman's carbine in english.

this is basically the size of a 22 rifle, its around the size of my mossberg 22, and it shoots 8mm lebel round. its a good shooter; nice trigger, and as its so small its very easy to steady. the sights are kinda bad, but, well, it was for rear echelon troops after all. the gun was cheap, too bad ammo is so much for this, i wont get to really shoot it too much i'd imagine. but man oh man is it loud!

and here with an SVT40 and K31 for size comparisions. The SVT40 is your longish long rifle, the k31 more standard sized:

Where did you get the ammo? I was thinking about getting one of those. They look awesome.

Try a Mk 5 British Jungle Carbine in .303. Not only is it LOUD, but that rubber butt stock that is smaller then the end of the rifle does wonders on your shoulder with the massive recoil....

+1 on the .303 MK 5 !! Can't shoot mine without a recoil pad and no one wants to sit next to me.

I shot mine yesterday, first time in about 5 years. I've had this carbine since 1976 and although the handiness factor is high and the cool factor is even higher, it really isn't a fun firearm to shoot for me. Accuracy isn't too great compared to my other Lee Enfields. So, I shot it and it goes back in the safe for another 5 years.
