I'm just curious, why did you post pics of the 1911 in your original post?

I think I saw this on the cover of the latest American Rifleman issue. It's on my table and I haven't had time to pick it up yet, should be interesting.

As a matter of fact I AM seriously asking that.

Why the heck would you post pictures of a 1911 in a thread about the #1 pistol of all time? It's NOT.

;)

No SIG? A 228 would've fit nicely where the PPK sits.

Well I'm glad a Glock is on there...in a high ranking.

i agree with all except #5 - Volcanic Volitional Repeater, and the order of the list would be a little jumbled but its a good list

It definitely shows the age distribution of the editors that voted in the poll (I'm not complaining...I agree with most on that list!).

One of the few "top ten" lists of anything published that I haven't disagreed with at least half. Could have changed a couple, maybe re-arranged the order some, but all in all, not a bad list.

Good list! I can understand the rationale behind just about all of the picks; their historical significance and contributions to the advancement of handgun technology in general.

I learned something new! Anytime someone talks of WWII German handguns it seems to always involve the Luger, sometimes you hear about the Walther P38, but this is the first time I have heard that the Browning Hi-Power was used by Germany as well as the Allies.
Anyone know about the Savage handgun that was competing with the 1911 so many decades ago?
