View Full Version : Official Birthday Party for Gene Hoffman - Sunday, August 23rd at Chabot!!!

oaklander
08-14-2009, 12:29 AM
Folks, I've been asked by Gene Hoffman's wife, Heather, to coordinate a birthday party for him!!!

Since it's "Gene" we are talking about, we thought what better than to involve food, friends, and guns. Lots of guns.

Consequently, the party will be on Sunday, August 23rd at Chabot Gun Club, from 12 noon to 4pm.

http://www.chabotgunclub.com/

Everyone is invited, and please post in the poll if you can make it. . .

Since we don't know how many people are coming, we thought we should make it a "pot-luck" party. Therefore, if your "year of birth" ends in an "odd" number (like 1961) please bring something to grill. If your year of birth ends in an "even" number (like 1972), please bring a side, some drinks or dessert. We will supply the plates and ice chests, and utensils.

If you've never been to Chabot before, please visit the above website and check out their rules, to ensure that you have a safe and fun time.

Also, we need one volunteer to contact the East Bay Regional Parks District and make sure that there will be no fire prohibitions on that date.

And we need a second volunteer to bring a gas BBQ.

Please post in the thread if you can help us, and don't forget to answer the poll. . .

Any way to rent out the entire range and get some special privliges? Maybe bring out some tannerite and blow up a pinata with tannerite for him?

Side note: This is the same day as a tenative Panoche Shoot so I know members will be tossed up between both shoots.

Got your PM - yes, please bring it - I also think Wildhawker is bringing one too - so two grills should be enough (unless we get a wild turnout). . .

I don't have a gas grill in hand, was going to rent a 6ft towable if turnout was such that it would be more efficient.

If attendance justifies it I can get a larger commercial-type bbq, I just need to know by Monday to make sure it's reserved.

ETA: Do we want the hamburgers seasoned or is season-on-site preferred? Might pre-bbq the chicken at the house so we can get to eating ASAP.

Disasters aside, I think I can be there.

Will bring my usual Calguns load of tri-tip for someone competent to grill and a cooler of club sodas/ sodas.

Given the more social nature of this and the fact it's Gene's B-Day and Heather's coming I believe I can even drag Liz there!

Yes indeed.

The scariest part is that I can legitimately say that Gene took big bull cock from Oaklander. I will note that Oak was not wearing chaps at the time.

Freezerburn... Oaklander didn't need to go re-gifting his spare genitalia...

Yay!

3 Cheers for Ms. Wildhawker...

Not so many for Anthony's Manifesto who convinced me to read a book that makes me want to step out into traffic.....(great book though).

If thats Mrs Wildhawker then Mr Wildhawker might not fit into the picture I've formed in my mind by reading his posts; a cross between Gandalf the Wise and Chuck Heston.

Title, author?

The Road, Cormac McCarthy.

241 pages of utter freakin' despair.

Liberty, Mr. Wildhawker is the guy wearing the RealTree apron. He's kinda hard to see (camoflage and all that....).

Gandalf is too slow and Charlton too lethargic; I met the Wildhawkers in person just once, at the first Cow Palace CGF booth earlier this year, and let me tell you that they are a dynamo -- both of them incredibly energetic and enthusiastic about RKBA. We're lucky to have them.

What kicks even more *** is that it's my understanding that Mrs Wildhawker sewed the realtree apron herself.

That is a fact; she has also made most of the CGN booth table skirts/backdrops. She's handy to keep around. ;) Like a well-accessorized AR with a master key, not much she can't get done.

:hide:

Thanks for all the kind words, gentlemen. It's really our pleasure to have such a wonderful extended family as Calguns is to us. We're glad we could celebrate Gene's birthday with all of you, and very pleased that the lovely Mrs. Hoffman was able to join us as well. It was nice to have a chance to say "thank you" to both of them, as they each contribute so much to our cause and the betterment of society.

Without our wives', husbands' or significant-others' support [consent... yes, dear], we'd have a far less stable foundation from which to reach for the stars.
