I see the primary reason to own an "assault weapon" on the news. I recall that in 1989 the late Sherman Black, then Sheriff of Los Angeles County, telling a news conference that if the big quake hit, his department would not be able to answer calls for service for at least ten days. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
I suppose we could call Roos or Lockyer or Boxer or Feinsten for help. http://www.calguns.net/laughroll.gif

Why not? You gotta figure they carry weapons on their persons constantly, who better to save the day then the people who seem to know so much better then the peons of the general public?

If we look at the LA riots, you'll notice that the stores that didn't get robbed were the ones where the owners were sitting on the roofs with mini 14s.

What sucks is that the people most affected by this disaster are more then likely the ones who are too poor to own fire arms for self defense. Every one who could already bugged out of the area, most of the people left are the people who were in desperate situations even before the hurricane.

Agreed though, I sleep a little better knowing that should California get hit by "The Big One" and fall into the ocean, I'm adequately prepared to fend for my life. Meanwhile those you mentioned took the first priate flight into safety. To loosely guote a boardmember here "I so love Cali politicians! Not!"
