Okay guys, i have a question about getting a mac-11 into California.

If i order a mac-11 pistol and have it shipped to my FFL dealer, and then at the dealer we put on a buttstock, a longer barrel, and fix the magazine can it be DROS'ed as a rifle at this point??

My intention is to KEEP it as a rifle, and not as a pistol.

My intentions for doing this are to choose a specific upper and buttstock, saving me a couple hundred bucks if i were to originally buy a m11 carbine.

Don't know if that would be legal at all but be careful of what order things are done. I would think that you would want to install the longer barrel first to avoid creating an SBR.

If the FFL dealer is adding the shoulder stock and 16+" barrel to the pistol, you will have to utilize a Type 07-FFL to do what you want.

That would be perfectly legal.

However, like Quiet said, if the FFL is doing the work for you then he should be an 07. Alternatively, you can do the work yourself in his presence if he's just an 01 if he'll let you.
