The new permit that I was issued in San Diego comes laminated but the permit it's self is larger than a drivers license. So it is a real pain the the A** to carry since it will not fit in your wallet. For now I just put in my shirt pocket. I do pray that it will not fall out and I loose it. With my luck that will be the time I get stopped and I can't find it.
I know that some one in Sacramento sat there and said "Let's make these 1/4" larger than a drivers license so there is no place for them to put it in there wallets"

Most county just use the thin paper style CCW permit. OC just changed to credit card style couple months ago, which makes it easier to carry and no need to take additional measure to protect it.
before that change, I fold my CCW and cut-up lamination cover, place my CCW inside without actually having to laminate it. It worked okay for the past 5+ years.

Just got mine this w/e and it doesn't fit inside the wallet. The SO took the liberty of laminating it for me so it makes it difficult to fold. I have an oversize bi-fold so I just stuck it in the money holder and it still sticks up about 1/4 inch. Remains to be seen if that 1/4 inch gets beat up in my back pocket.

Folded in half and laminated, as suggested by the issuing authority, Placer County SD.
God bless Sheriff Bonner.
Ditto rip rap except I made a color copy (the no booze stamp is in red) reduced it about 5% to wallet size then laminated it.

Fold in half, then trimmed to the edges of writing and laminated. Same size now as license. As per Amador SO. My NV CCW is already laminated to correct size and my Fl one is actually like a credid card, nice.

I guess us in San Diego are just lucky to get the style we get. It just goes to show that there is no consistency from county to county even when it comes to how the permit looks.

I fold mine in half and tuck inside a folded map of the other States that honor the CA CCW and a copy of the Kern County permit conditions. I place this in the money section of my wallet (I uses a money clip so I don't have money in my wallet).

I live in a rural county that is effectively shall issue. I happen to be well acquainted with our sheriff, but that is not necessary to get a permit. Permits in Mendocino County come with a restriction against being under the influence while carrying. That means DUI with your gun and no more permit and you can count on being prosecuted for a PC 12025 as well as DUI. And that means good-bye to that gun!
I carry my unlaminated permit wrapped around my driver's license and hand both to any officer that needs to see either. So far the response (from CHP in Humboldt County, I don't get contacted by law enforcement much) has been, "are you carrying?" And from me, "yes." Nothing further said.

Mine is laminated from LASO/LASD. A little bigger than a credit card.
I do not carry it next to my DL, since you are not required to let LEO know in CA. If they dont ask, I dont tell.

Folded and laminated. God I wish they'd start with the credit card style; the paper is so freaking flimsy.

Kern County Conditions of CCW Permit says:
"The Applicant:
Shall immediately notify any peace officer with whom the licensee comes in contact with that the licensee is armed and has a permit in their possession."

Absolutely, all issuing authorities can put restrictions on the CCW permits which then apply to your pert statewide.
Someone on here posted that one county up north has a restriction that you can't carry a gun on your CCW in gun-free school zones, this effectively makes the CCW useless in towns and cities throughout the State.

Same requirement in OC, but we do not have that printed on the permit. It's on an agreement we have to sign when we receive our CCW.

Folded to license size and tucked behind it for me. And yes, with a permit from here in Kern you are required to notify. I have only once -to a CHP who stopped about Lake Dolores on the 15 when we were on the way to Baker and had had a blowout. The car had fallen off the jack and I was shaking like a leaf. CHP officer was very cool and at the end with a grin asked me what I was carrying.
With my rice paper I folded it in half, trimmed the edges and then laminated it. It's not that much larger than a credit card and I put it in the bill section of my wallet. The lady taking my thumb print at the sheriff's office said that they had the machine and was ready to start making credit card style CCWs but the DOJ put a freeze on it. They just have to make it that much harder.

i don't need to fold mine.all i did was trim off the excess lamination and there is a slot in my wallet it fits in.so if i get pulled over the police cant see it when i open my wallet for my license.
side note:glad i got my permit from where i did.im not obligated to notify upon stoppage.

It comes laminated. I trim the edges and stick it in my wallet. Wall has a slot that fit it fine. I have several copies of this wallet stacked up new waiting their turn to be used as it is the best I have found for carry the CCW! :)

I don't carry a wallet instead I use a plastic two fold business card holder. My license and CCW license are together. I had to fold the CCW because it is larger then the drivers license. Why make thing easy right! That is in my rear pocket at all times.
Is it legal to make a color copy of my original, size it down and laminate it like someone mentioned earlier? Mine is huge and made of thin paper. Even folding it in half, it is still too big to fit in my wallet. I'm worried that it will be beat up and faded long before I need to renew it.

I was told by the woman who filled out my permit at the SD that you could scan it, re-size it, laminate it, pretty much anything you wanted as long as it was legible. Your county may be different so you might want to give a call to your issuing agency.

I keep it in a place were all the important things belong,
my dl, med card, ccw, hsc card, ham card, power truck card,
if I knew what happens to my SS card (socialst insecurty) it would be there also.
Heven help the fool that tries to take my wallet, nobody else will.

My county uses the std DOJ form. I fold it in half and then in half again over my Driver's license. Anytime law enforcement needs to see my identification they get my CCW at the same time.
Last time that happened was when I was stopped by CHP. He asked if I was carrying. I replied that I was and that was all that was said. This is my only law enforcement encounter while armed and was over two years ago.

Why would you? If asked to get out of the car or some other circumstances in which the firearm would be discovered, then yes, notify. However if your not required by your county and it's a standard encounter (ticket, warning, ect.) then why draw attention to something that is supposed to be inconspicuous?
