I wish for a s&w 340PD. I just can't see dropping the coin on one gun. w/one kid in braces and another about to and every thing else that goes into raising A High schooler and a Jr. higher. but I could always pass on the next purchase and combine funds for the 340PD

FN 5.7x28 with mags I bought as a LEO loaded with the heavier rounds, Ruger SP101 357 loaded with Remington 38spl +p SJHP, Beretta 96F (40S&W) loaded with cor-bon power balls. The trick is always practice with what you cary in the same manner that you cary it. If you carry a variety of different stuff, practice with all of it together or you will loose your ability to run a variety of platforms mixed together.

I highly recomend choosing one platform of gun and sticking with that design, not that I have myself. Its a lot easier for the average person to own and run a full size glock, mid size glock and subcompact glock than it is to run a single action revolver, double action revolver and polymer high cap style semi auto. The easy of muscle memory makes it much easier.

I carry a plain 1991 Colt 45. Have alot of other guns, but it just shoots best for me.

Other choose is a HK USP in 40 caliber. Have a 9mm, but for defense, I like bigger holes:43:

For potential carry guns like either frame mounted safeties or glocks. Not a fan of double actions, especially the DAO (Double action only)models.

I don't want to wind up in a hospital DOA(Dead on Arrival) because my DAO (Double action only) got me second place in a gun fight.

My primary carry gun is a Gen 3 Glock 22 and an extended 17rd mag. My carry load is the Corbon 135gr JHP+P (1325 fps). Sometimes, I will carry my custom widebody 1911 built on an original alloy Para frame with 14rd magazine. Carry load for this one is the Corbon Pow'RBall 165gr.

Both of these guns are well used and proven reliable with the loads carried.

I had thought that the DOJ changed it so only three were allowed on the permit. I had heard of a story at my CCW class where a guy had taken all of the front space and a good portion of the second page to list his carry guns.

I've looked at both the permit application and the Penal Code. I see no limit on the number of guns you can list on the permit application in either place.

I'll have to dig out the information packet that the SO's provided and re-read what it says, and yes, unfortunately, in my case, the issuing agency (Santa Clara SO's) will only allow you to list two on the license. Legal? I have no idea, but when they started that policy about 6 years ago, I wasn't in a position to argue.

The state has no limit, but my guess is many sheriff's limit to 3 because on the Application there is 3 spaces only.

There is a comment that additional guns can be added though.

It is probably a issue that the only people who would consider arguing the point would be people who had more than 3 guns.

When I apply post sykes I may put in a simple request to see if the Sheriff would consider changing policy to allow more guns, perhaps offer to do so for a small additional admin fee or something like that.

Forgive me for sounding rude but shouldn't the question be which gun would you sacrifice or could live without? Please correct me cuz I'm sure I'm wrong but I heard that if you do end up shooting someone in ca for all the right reasons that instead of being viewed as a hero you will be arrested and your gun will be confiscated. After you are tried you might get your gun back but the condition of it will be nowhere near white it was when you last saw it. When I read this I reconsidered using my Kimber CDP for my Block. I see everyone on here and their nice carry options but I would be afraid the cops would abuse my nice gun. Any truth to this or just a scare tactic?

QuarterBoreGunner
08-14-2009, 06:45 PM
Scare tactic to a certain extent; yes your firearm will be impounded for awhile, but losing access to it or worrying about its condition upon return, should really be the least of your concerns when deciding upon a tool that you may have to use to save your life.

Just picked up a Khar CW9 for my primary carry weapon, currently experimenting with IWB holsters. Just ordered a Comp-Tac MTAC, hopefully it will be as comfortable as they say it is.

For the summer months, I'll carry my Taurus 85 wheel gun with a simple Glaco pocket holster.

If I'm in an adventurous mood, I will sport the Bersa 380 in a Bianchi, or Don Hume IWB clip holster.

Used to carry my Taurus PT145, but found that a bit too heavy, and thick to be comfortable for me. So, I replaced it with my Kahr CW9.

On a daily basis I carry a S&W 337 loaded with +p+ 110 gr Winchester loads. I normally wear a suit, but not always the jacket so the gun is in an ankle holster. At 14 oz. loaded it is comfortable and convenient for daily wear. The crimson trace grips assist accurate shot placement. I have used this combo in IDPA "belly gun" shoots and it works quite well. Extra ammunition is two Bianchi speed strips carried in the outside pouch of my ankle hoster.

Mostly my Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380, colder weather a Kahr P45. The .380 replaced my S&W .32 mag, its just so damn flat,2 extra shots, more comfortable than the revolver inside the waistband.

Walther PPS in .40 is my main carry weapon now. Close behind is a Glock 27, Kimber Ultra CDP and my Glock 29 and 30's.

The PPS is just so slim I can't get away from it when the weather is warmer and layers are thinner.

While I've strayed a few times, I keep returning to my Glock 26. Great piece.

Right now, I have a Kimber CDP II Ultra for primary, my USP 45 (which I use at work, so I carry that to and from), and I'm probably going to put an LCR on as soon as i can buy one :)

On duty I carry a Glock 23 with Federal 180 HST HP ammo. + 640 as a back up. Off duty I carry a THREE inch Smith and Wesson revolver ( model 65 or 686) about 90% of the time. The other one is my five shot 640 when its the only gun I can hide.

Ditto. I've got just at 1K rounds w/ no cleaning and have never had a FTF or other issue. Great CCW.
