Recently bought this Russian SKS Tula early 1954, along with this Mossberg 590 and 400 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39, all for 300 bucks! Thats a good deal...a friend at work just wanted to get rid of them, so basically I got the shotgun for free!

Wow, good stuff. I wish I had bought an SKS when they were less than $100. Now that I want one, they are so dang pricey(by comparison)

so the albanians are recognizeable by their longer handguard? wonder why they did that.

Yes, Albys have longer HGs and an AK style charging handle.

Ledman- Looks like we have twin 1953 Tulas. They must have been separated at birth.

WOW! No kidding! They look like twins, lol...

And thanks everyone for the compliments, I love the SKS rifle, fun to shoot, pretty accurate, and easy to maintain. I am looking for more if I can get ahold of them, see my sig, I have some mausers and mosins for sale/trade, if you have any SKS rifles you want to get rid of hit me up!

my fave thing about the sks is its easy to maintain. gas system pops right out, scrub scrub good to go. my svt 40 is such a bear to clean, and the bolt on the VZ58 is much more complicated ... the sks wins hands down for being the easist semi i've ever shot as far as maintenance is concerned. now i have to get a garand and see how that stacks up. :)

as for accuracy...uh... well.... lets just say i got spoiled with the k31; since i cant get hits at 600m with the SKS like i can with the K31, i wouldnt put accuracy up there as one of the SKS's primary strengths.
