Question for the pros. I purchased a gun on the 29th of July from Grants. The guy who sold me the gun said that it wouldn't be ready for sale until 8-16 due to the gun needing to be registered and some sort of backround check on the gun itself. Then he said I have to wait my 10 days from the 16th until I can take the gun home. Anybody heard of this or are they full of it?

I think if the gun is in there shop on consignment then they have to do a 30day background check on the gun them after it comes back clean then you can do you our 10days.. I got a gun from turners that was on consignment and the same thing took place.. I think it will depend on how many days the gun has already been in the store as to how many days you have to wait before your 10 can start.. This is all with the assumption that this gun is in the store on consignment. If it isn't then I got no clue......

Anything over 11 days is BS.

Oh man that is a long time. but silk scenario sounds right...plus the way you worded it seems like the gun is on consignment.

Actually anything over 10 24 hour periods is B.S., however in the case of a consignment they are obligated to wait 30 days before it is eligible to be sold. Once sold the new owner must go through the additional 10 day wait. This is my understanding I suggest you research it yourself.

It is consigned. Thanks guys. My first gun and I have to wait this long. Had to have it though.

I had a dealer do this to a gun I purchased about 15 years ago.
A 30 day wait because the gun was unregistered (for a background check on the gun itself), then the 15 day wait for me to pick it up.
45 day wait...I'd forgotten what I had bought by then.
At least no children were hurt.

Why the need to wait for the 30 days to end before the 10 days starts ?

The 2 are mutually exclusive and is there a reason they cannot run concurrent ?

I asked the same question about starting the 10 day wait 10 days before the 30 day wait is up and he said no. The gun is a used Beretta PX4 Storm 40 cal. Got it for 450 and the thing looks brand new. I can't wait.
