Being not on the list, my guess would be no. Start following the Pena case for updates on availability.

Bullseye had one in their consignment case recently. City Arms did as well but I believe someone bought it.

Thanks for a tip. Checked both and no luck :( City Arms never had it on consignment, just new ones for LE only...

will most gun stores let us lowly civilians fondle their non rostered handguns that are for LEO only?

You're probably better off posting in the WTB forum and put a price you're willing to pay.

Honestly, if I happened across another PPS that was on consignment I'd buy it for myself as a backup or for my wife. Most people that know what they are and that they are off roster are going to snatch it up. Maybe you should just talk to the people at the local shops and leave a card with your number and that you are looking for a PPS if one comes in. That will probably be your best bet if you have no other methods of obtaining one.

theres no reason they cant let you finger f@#k the gun at the store. its illegal to sell it to you not to let you hold it. if they want to sell you a different pistol they will let you hold anything.
and on a side note. the law says that you cannot buy that weapon new in california. doesnt mean you cant go to arizona and buy it. plus out of state doesnt have the stupid list. so finding it at a gun show used is going to be alot easier. if this pistol was legal in cali i would have purchased it. very nice fit and finish. but i couldnt find a used one so i ended up with a sw99 .40 instead. i am pleased with it. but not as happy as if i would have got the pps.

Most FFLs of my acquaintance will not generally let non-LEOs handle LEO only weapons unless they are very familiar with you. Besides, just handling it knowing you can't purchase it is kind of like kissing a girl through the mail to coin a very old joke.

You are encouraging the OP to commit a felony. Might want to tread lightly on that.

Bay Area Gun Vault let me handle the one they had in their display case last weekend. Pretty sweet piece.

I WANT THIS GUN - I have a friend moving back to CA from utah but he's afraid of getting into trouble. I'm still going to try to prove to him it's perfectly legal for him to PPT it back to me. I saw one at badger johns in sac on display and then proceeded to inform them that it was off list- I should have just bought it!

The DROS would have been rejected if the shop didn't catch it and tried to submit it.

All the talk in this thread ALMOST makes me want to sell mine.... ALMOST, but no way.
