A friend of mine is willing to sell his Armscor 1911 to me for $300. I havent heard too much of Armscor except they are made in the Phillipines and do work for RIA and STI. Anyone know what they are worth and if they are any good. Here are some pics of the pistol.

got some crap pics but good enough.

also, its gonna be the 1911 or a Springfield XD .40. the xd is going for 450 brand new from a shop. the 1911 is 300 plus the ppt fee and all the other fees.

Opinions?

Dude, get that. If not buy it and sell it to me for $350... Nice deal, good gun.

That is like the Tactical from RIA before they started the whole RIA brand.

Yep, lotta gun for the money -- I'd buy it for $300 and never look back. I've got an Armscor-made High Standard 1911 (same gun, different rollmarks) and I love it -- functions beautifully (and "rattles" like a 1911 should ;)

not that there is anything wrong with a armscore, its just that a XD is way more awesome.

Good deal for a 1911. Those mags look to be MecGar mags. Good stuff.

Aren't Armscor and RIA the same company? Correct me if I am wrong.

That's a steal. Armscor is also sold under the RIA and Charles Daly labels. Good solid 1911's for good prices.

I thought that's what I said. Let me try again. Armscor manufactured guns are also sold under different labels including RIA and Charles Daly.

Shoot it first and make sure it operates correctly. If I'd the chance to do that, I wouldn't have bought my RIA Tactical.

Get that pistol, dude! I've been shopping for one of those and I'd jump at the chance. Fella in Livermore said he's had to return quite a few RIA's and that scared me off a bit but I'd still grab one for $300.

The 1911's are still on their website and a quick check of the forums didn't yield anything of that nature.

Their new 1911's, the G-4 and M-5, are being produced in Israel. They're having some production issues with the G-4 though, and from what I read on the forum several months ago they will not be available here in the PRK anyway. A review of the M-5 is here: Charles Daly M-5 Review. (http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?t=556)

Here's a cut and paste from the CD forum:

The M5 (Isreali BUL M5) has been offered by Daly for quite some time now but never made it to Kommiefornication roster. I recently picked up a now discontinued Kimber BP10 frame (made by BUL) because I just love high cap 1911's.;) I just wish that silly roster would go away.

Why? What do you think of Brazilian made 1911's? How about "plastic fantastic" guns made in Croatia?

How come? My Philippine-made High Standard is a great utilitarian gun.

Folks said the same thing about all those "crap" Norinco 1911's back in the 90's and they sell for plenty on Gunbroker.

So its gonna happen, but quick question about the Armscor. If Armscor makes the Charles Daly and the STI, how come the Armscor name isnt quite up to the standards of those two?

actually i think the new charles daly 1911s are no longer made by armscor. not sure if it has anything to do with them being dropped from the CA DOJ list. as for the $300 price tag, jump on it. you will not regret it. You can always get the XD40 at the store price. if you dont get it, have your friend email me :)

when it comes to name recognition, it is all about marketing. armsor doesnt spend money on marketing like STI and Charles Daly does.

Correct save for the charles daly. Armscor and CD have since split ways about a year to 18 months ago.
