They'll prob have across-the-board sales in handguns, rifles + accessories.

They sell lotsa Rugers, so expect some good prices - GP100s and P89s for something like $350. I've seen 'em as low as $299 there awhile back.

It usually is, they have great deals on some guns, and many of the factory reps are there to give you insight into them.

I just wish this was later in the year, because I'm 3 up on my 30 day periods, so I'm beyond what most of the stores will hold a gun for layaway.

Do they advertise anywhere?
Their website seems pretty low on gun price information, nor have I seen any paper ads

They're not always that informative.

The Springfield Armory folks @ Reed's a coupla months ago just looked at me like I was crazy when I asked 'em about chrome-lined barrels in their M1As, and when the SOCOM might ever get one.

I told them that, if I bought a SOCOM, I'd have to put a brand new barrel on it from an alternate source just to get milspec performance. Asked if that wouldn't that be an indication that their products were substandard?

Springfield Armory: you have questions, we have blank stares.

So today I got Reeds flyer in the mail for their annual sale next week. I took a look at the addressee and it was addressed to my girlfriend! That doesn't bother me, but how did she get on the mailing list whereas I'm not? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've purchased two guns from them and accessories and she's only been to their range a few times.

Pretty funny!

07-10-2005, 6:59 AM
so does that mean if they sell out of a perticular gun, that they won't have any more of those for sale? so like, if they sell out of a SA 1911 that i might have wanted to buy on sale, but didn't cause i didn't see it there? i probably won't be able to make it there until sunday, so i really don't want to miss out

I do believe that once they've sold out of a particular gun, they won't offer more at the sale price. If what you want is popular, likely it won't last till Sunday.

Looks like Reed's has a link on their web site about the sale, though there isn't much info there except a notice to check back Wednesday after 6PM for more info.

A couple of years ago, they ran out of a gun I wanted, so they took a deposit and ordered it just could not run the paperwork. I'm sure they'll still do that.

Nothing really jumped out at me. a few months ago I got a M1A Socom 16 there, the "sale" price for this weekend is $60 more than what they charged me during the Springfield sale when I got mine.

Probably go checkout the circus tomorrow anyway, just incase something hits me right.

If you're using some sort of ad blocking utility for your browser, you might have to disable it temporarily. Usually they block URLs with "ad" or "ads" in it. I had to to that in firefox with the "Adblock" plugin.

Used Ruger PC carbine (I forget the caliber) $360
Used Ruger Mini-14, one in synthetic stock, other in good looking laminated stock, same price $380.
All in very good shape.

Nice. It's actually a 4-1/4" bbl, same general form factor as Colt Commander model.

I was tempted by that one too, but I have 3 1911 45ACPs and a Glock 21 so that category is pretty full.

I thought there'd be some screaming deals on Ruger single-action big-bore guns, but the only real specials on those were 22s and 32s..

This is weird, since I had the same experience. Except my daughter dragged me over to the bike side and I saw they were practically giving away accessories for old bikes like rain fenders, grocery panniers, and old bike parts. They even had a small box with kids bike parts marked "Free". I got a Lance Armstrong contest scratcher and almost won a VW Jetta.
As for the guns, I didn't see anything different from last year and the prices were still high. The ammo on sale were selling for what other dealers sell as their normal price. Powder and primers are slightly higher than gun show prices. Selection of bullets is less than last year. I was looking for some magazine pouches for my Glock and Witness, but they didn't have anything that would fit. However, you can easily spend 2 hours just talking BS with the people behind the counter and at the tables, hearing their war stories and other BS.

Are you sure about that? The 1911Sc that I saw in 4 1/4" was a regular barrel w/ bushing. I was actually kinda surprised about that.

I had a really hard time deciding between a 1911Sc, and the one I got, but I need another 1911 for plinking, and so the cheapest one won. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sportsmans' Supply might want to check their ad, the Glocks are 11-shot? I assume that is 10+1 right? They are 10+1. But they always advertise 11-shot, that way they get "competitive advantage" over all the other schmucks selling their 10rd handguns.

Once I fell for their ad for a "NEW" SW625 for $525. Asked to see one, they presented me a display gun with a nice drag line around the cylinder and gunpowder residue around the cylinders "from test firing at the factory". Gun felt great in hand, I said I would take it but that I wanted a NIB. I was promptly informed that that was THE gun on sale and if I wanted a NIB that was possible with a quick phone call to their supplier from them and an extra $80 from me. No thank you, good-bye.

Yeah, sometimes their newspaper ads have fine print. The ones w/small asterisks are PPT/consignment used guns.

You and I may have run into that same 625 awhile back at S.S. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm not too excited by the prices. Their sales bring things down to reasonable prices, IMO, which is good if there's something specific you want, but I don't see any can't-miss bargains.

Reed's is a fine place, I'm sure, but in my years of buying in the San Jose area, I have yet to see something there I had to walk out with.

It's partly because I'm a big fan of barely shot used handguns, and used guns aren't really their strong point. Maybe I'd see more if I got there more often, but when I do get there, I'm generally underwhelmed. Great assortment of new stuff at premium prices, but that's not what floats my boat.

Some people like that, I know. Just not my cuppa tea.

yeah, i just checked it out today, and wasn't too excited either. the p22 my friend was looking for was $339, but traders has it for $299 as a regular price. the tikka t3 was only like, $30 less than msrp, or really close to it. the only thing that kinda caught my eye was just a simple s&w 22a as a cheap plinking pistol at $179... and the springfield 1911s. but i didn't pick up any of them. another handgun just isn't on my priority list right now. a decent o/u and the tikka, however, is but i didn't see any real good must-buy prices.

all in all, first "sale" i've been to with the exception to big5, so now i know what to expect, or what not to expect.

It really depends on what you were looking for. I got a G23 for $489 which is a pretty good price. Yeah every now and then I see them go that low around here. My friend let me know that they go for more in Phoenix (but they probably come with a few hi-caps).

The prices for the P22 were not spectacular, but fair. I've seem them as low as $239 for the 4" barrel. But that was at turners in LA.

I saw G23's at the cow palace gun show going for $540. I thought that was a joke considering I just paid $10 parking and $8 for admission! So for me, the Reeds sale worked out for me.

I was there today.... prices were not that good. Seems like they were better a few years ago. By better I mean closer to internet prices.

I picked up a couple of Benchmande axis locks ended up paying 20 percent more than I could have purchased the same knives at everyday prices from New Graham Knives on the net.

Reloading prices were WAY to High. Gun Prices may have been a bit better than the typical bend over and squeal prices we normally get around here.

The best part about Reed's annual sale is that it creates some healthy market battle! . I went to Reed's looking for a Springfield M1A Scout their price was good but nothing amazing $1,446 (IIRC) then I went to Sporstman's Supply and they really surprised me with a deal that I wasn't able to match anywhere else! not even on the Internet. Their price was $1,249! That's what I call an ANNUAL SALE!!! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

yea I was really looking at purchasing a ruger 10/22 but I just don't know. I read on the internet about how Bill Ruger supported the Hi Cap ban.

I'm not sure if I want to spend my hard earned money on any ruger products after reading this. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't.

That's why I only buy used Ruger guns. Was sorely tempted by their Colt Single action clones.

Well Rugers are a lot better than Colt SAAs for hot loads. Really no other SA gun has that endurance (w/exception of Freedom Arms, and Magnum Research single actions).

And Bill Ruger is dead now. It's also a publicly traded company.

Ruger doesn't have a lot for me other than single-actions and the new upcoming Alaskan 454.
I would jump at a Redhawk 357x8.

Bill still lives on. Ruger still does not produce high caps for the civilians. Tell me if I'm wrong as I haven't bought a new Ruger for almost 8 years. All my stuff is old.

That Ruger Single did looks sweet and felt pretty solid.
