I'm looking into adding a Springfield XD 9 4" to the collection. Anyone have any first hand experience with these?

I've put many rounds through an XD-40, and it's one of my favorite pistols. It's ergonomic, simple and durable... everything you could want in a utility handgun. I even used it at a 2-day handgun course with icy-cold rain both days, and the XD functioned without a hiccup.

Highly recommended overall.

Excellent, exactly what I wanted to hear http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I have a Beretta 96, would you recommend getting the 40 over the 9? It'd be nice to have two guns that take the same ammo as I don't yet own a 9mm, but I like 9mm's ammo price.

I have a XD-9 Tactical. I've only put about 500 rounds through it so far, but haven't had any issues with it yet. Pretty nice gun.

I couldn't be happier with my XD40.
I sent it off to canyon creek to turn it into a production class IPSC gun.

if I did it over again, I'd have gotten an XD9 tactical for competition. For home defense, you can't go wrong with an XD40 4".

good gun, I have two.

What did you guys pay for yours? (If you don't mind me asking). I was at the local fun shop and I fondled one but it was nearly $600 out the door.

Some place down here in San Jose. I guess it wasn't too bad, it came with a case, 3 mags and a holster. It was $500 but after tax and DROS out the door was $575. Everywhere else that I've called said they were "around $500"

Just shot the XD 9 4 in. for the first time today. I was impressed. It was a very comfortable and accurate gun.

I've been hearing a lot reaaly good things about this gun. In fact, the owner of the shop told me that one of his die hard Glock fans switched.

They have the .40 in the 5 in. tactical version and I hear it calling my name.

I've got the XD40 4" and I quit counting the rounds at ~2200. No FTF and only one FTE by a newbie friend of mine that I highly suspect was limp wristing. I would get it 10 times over again. It eats anything I put in it and is very enjoyable to shoot.

Only downside is the finish, if not stored properly it can develop rust issues. But last I heard Springfield was refinishing at no cost. If I'm remembering correctly.

I just bought a XD 5" Tac 9 about a year ago and I couldn’t be happier! Over 3000 rounds with out a glitch and the accuracy is just amazing.

I have the XD9. It has functioned flawlessly. Yes, the finish is the negative; however, according to folks at http://www.xdtalk.com, SA is taking care of any problems. The trigger is crisp; reset is slightly longer than a Glock. I'm looking for the .40 Tactical model with a black frame.

I have recomended the 4" 9mm versions to two friends who have bought them as a first handgun, and they are both happy they made that purchase. I'm more of a Glock person though.
