Can I shoot my AR style .223 in the USFS legal shooting area? The same area where tons of folks go to shoot and is sactioned by the USFS.

As I read the law I can shoot the weapon at the range or in a location "authorised for shooting unless otherwise prohibited."

I have the specific law in printed format at home so I am unable to quote the specific penal code I am paraphrasing.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know you can. I've been at USFS areas with my OLL and they never even looked twice as they cruised by. Just a smile and a wave.

I don't see why not. Just call the local Ranger station ahead of time to make sure the area is open for shooting. Lots of them are closed due to fire season. Illegal target shooting is a $60 ticket.

Shouldn't be a Penal Code. Would be US Code since USFS is a federal lands area.
