How does one turn a standard 1911 into a single shot handgun?

The reason for converting a purposely designed semi, to a single shot is...?

to use the single shot exemption to bring into CA either a frame or a non-rostered 1911.

This was what I was thinking since the SASS or the Dominator might be a challenge to acquire.

Get a 7.5 inch barrel, fixed magazine, with a shaved mag release.

I'll have to talk to a FFl to see if they would be comfortable with passing this as a single shot.

Wouldn't the conversion unit itself be not-a-gun & so obtainable by mail?

Only if you can find one neither are currently in production, so it's a crap shoot as to whether or not you can find one to buy.

be careful it can't be a fixed mag it has to be a block or sled, whatever it is, it can't hold a single round if it does then it does not qualify for the single shot exemption...........

yes. then you take it to the ffl that you had your pistol frame sent to and he can assemble it for you as a single-shot pistol. then he can dros it to you as a single shot as to avoid the roster.

I was going to fill the magazine with epoxy so that the follow would not be able to move. I think this might be a viable option.

Actually, my interest isn't in avoiding the roster problems. I don't think its all that hideous & I actually like the idea of the thing.

Wanting to import non rostered collecter (but not old enough for curio/relic) handgun or guns. Was hoping for some other method than putting the SASS barrel on. Not even sure is that would work on a Detonics Combat Master.

It won't work the SASS and the Dominator are designed for full size grip frames.

would that work on a STI frame? I would love to get my hands on a full length dustguard 1911 frame and make something nice out of it. but STI wont sell to CA because we are behind enemy lines :(

that is what a 1911 SHOULD look like. I dont really know of any cali legal full length frame 1911's
