How about shooting while running?

We can call it the Run N Gun Marathon.

Can you be a bit more explicit about 'distance' please?
I just ran to the kitchen for something to drink...then I saw the figbars...I remembered that my kid didn't finish lunch today...and the catbowl still had some 9lives in it.
So...I didn't really RUN back here.

Seriously...I am training for the BIG SUR MARATHON! in April.
I'm up to 3.5 miles already!
I'm planning on running it barefoot this year...seriously!
I ran it in a pair of deerskin mocassins I made in 2003.

Before coming to California, I used to regularly run 8 miles, but I had never run a race beyond that distance. Now I don't run but I enter races...BAD IDEA!

NO ONE can run barefoot over evil legos!
I don't know if I can run the whole length barefoot. I'll be making some more mocassins just in case.
In 2003 I ran the Big Sur for the second time and when I finished my moc's only had a few small holes around the toes and ball of my feet. These are thin tanned deerskin mocs, almost like going barefoot.
My longest distance training barefoot is 6miles.
I used to run and hike barefoot in the deserts of the southwest when I was a kid and into my 20's/30's, but I never took to barefoot roadrunning until 4 or 5 years ago.
After the second year when my achille's tendon finally stretched out, I found that I couldn't run comfortably in my running shoes anymore.
People always ask about the soles of my feet.
I say they are just like, 'Fine Corinthian Leather!'. They really are just like soft leather, no hard calluses except around an edge of my heels and on the outside of my big toes...but I've always had those.

Here's a website I found that helped me out alot.

SnWnMe,
How do you train for your marathons?
I attended a Jeff Galoway seminar once and I've been doing his, 'run a mile, walk a minute' routine to get me through the previous two I've run. Without that, I think I would have done even worse than I had.
The first marathon I finished in just under 5 hrs.
The second (2003) I finished right at the 6 hr mark as they were closing the course.
Both times I did not put in the miles I should have, but since I was signed up anyway, I went and did them.
This year should be different. I'm at least training more although I'm not up to the miles I really should be by now.

Do you run a lot of races, different lengths, UltraMarathons?

A Fernando reference you must be old.

The ones, they hide better and usually hit the soft part between your toes. I usually wake up the whole family screaming!

I got my excercise at the SHOT Show.

5.75 hrs walking on Saturday, about 5hrs on Sunday.

I work out by carrying my own weight around.

I use to run miles and miles when I was younger. I am afraid that milage is starting to bring old age upon me a bit early in life unfortunatley.

The first time I ran one, 2001, I just ran without a program. I did it in 4:15 IIRC. The last 5 or so miles were absolute HELL because I bonked.

This time, I'm following a 16 week program which goes
long run (over 10 miles)
med long (8)
med (4)
short (2)

I add a mile to the long run every week until I get to 19 miles then I start going down. The 16th week is limited to jogging 3 miles every other day. The medium long run is supposed to vary but I'll keep it steady at 8 miles.

I normally do the long run after a weekend off then I take a day off and do my medium long, short, then medium ad nauseaum.

The Navy always puts up 5Ks and 10Ks so I'll probably run a few of those to substitute for some training days.

My plan is to finish the big run under 4 hours. Or approx. 7 mph. Right now I am timing @ 6 mph for my long runs so I need to work on it. But there's still 14 weeks to the marathon.

OLD!?
I've only been in the double digits since 1970! Uhh, let me reword that!
You know how OLD folks can't remember anything?
Well, if I were OLD, then howcome I can still remember the days when the Super Bowl was still in single digits? HUH? Tell me that!
If I was OLD, there's be no way I could remember almost 40 yea....oh...WELL, at least I'm not REAL OLD!

Now, if I were REAL OLD.... http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
