I just took my DMV test on Atec's GS500. No dice. The instructor told me "Most take it on a scooter" So if somone has a scooter in the S.F. BayArea that would like to meet me at the DMV of your choice. I will be willing to give you $50BUXS for your time. If not I'll have to take the CHP class http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Doesn't a scooter only give you a Class M2 (motorcycle being Class M1)?

I took the class, my neighbor went to the DMV and took their test, instead of the class.. all you need to be aware of on the test is the "counterweight maneuver" I told him about it one night before his test and he said he practiced doing tight circles 15mins before the test and passed it. the class does help with the insurance though.

DJ,
there's this free magazine (citybike) that you pick up at motorcycle dealerships and shops. Somebody is advertising in there to rent you a Kawasaki Ninja 250 or something for the DMV test.
I've heard about this too that passing the test with a scooter won't give you a class m1 license.
IIRC, you could at one time do the "scooter cheat". I think I did my class M test on my 600R or my buddy's 250 Ninja (weird that it was mentioned). I can't recall for sure. If you can balance a bike at low speed (and in all fairness, you should be able to do this to qualify for an M1), you can pass the DMV test. That is, unless they've changed it drastically since 1990.
