Other than the Glock 20 is there any other semi-auto pistol chambered in 10mm that is on the CA approved list?

How is the availability of used 10mm pistols in CA second-hand market? Any S&W 1006 or Delta Elites around?

you may have a better chance in getting struck by lightning.

You can find Delta Elites and 1006s in Kali no problem. But you might want to sit down before you ask for the price.

Buy a 45 and get a good 10mm upper or conversion barrel.

I keep telling Kimber that they'd sell a crapload of 10mm Eclipses if they'd just certify the dang thing for sale here, but I guess they know better than me.

You need the whole upper. The standard breechface on the .45 slide is wider (obviously) than that of the 10mm (.400" diameter)

So a 10mm slide and barrel will work with a standard .45 1911 frame? COL is not that much different, but will the same magazines work?

Here's an auction for a 1006 in Livermore, CA. I'm tempted but just can't........

I check up on that gun every day. But today there's a bid. HMMMMM......wonder who did that? The funny thing is a couple of months ago I bid $450 on a 1006 with a buy it now/reserve of $500. Good luck hope you win.

There's also a S&W I think. Anyway, here's what I did. I bought an EAA Witness in .45acp since that's what's approved in CA. I'm saving up for a 10mm conversion kit now.

Slide, barrel, and recoil spring are really the only differences between a .45 and a 10mm gun. .45 mags may work depending on the gun... if not, CMC and Tripp make 10mm 1911 mags.

If you can find a .40S&W 1911, all you need to do is replace the barrel (or just have it rechambered) and the recoil spring.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help, especially Chickenfried! I won that auction and will be filling out transfer paperwork tomorrow.
Another thanks to Lunde for not starting a bidding war and letting me have the first go at the pistol that he also had an eye on.

Actually, IIRC, I believe that the ejectors are different too.

I'll post some pictures when (if) I can.

you can't just slap a 10mm upper on most 1911 lowers, as the frames will break.

trempel, you will have to handload for that gun to reach it's full potential. IMR 800X really kicks butt, but it is not fun to meter.

I've never heard that before.
I've definitely never seen it either.
