View Full Version : New Resident Handgun Registration Question
07-27-2009, 2:55 PM
I submitted my handguns to the DOJ along with a hefty check to register them all. I sent the check back in June and the check was cashed a week ago. Will the DOJ send me some sort of registration document for my records?
Thanks for your input.

yes, you should get a response letter, but it can take months. IIRC, I heard of a volreg taking 4-6 months recently.

If I wanted to sell any of my handguns which I just registered, do I need to wait till I receive the response letter?

that would be a good idea. Otherwise, if the PPT DROS was processed, and then they processed your new resident paperwork, the registration could get messed up and registered to you after you already sold it.

Good advice. Thanks for your help.

Well I received my letters from DOJ yesterday. I received separate letters for each of the 20 handguns I registered. So now I am legit and can take my toys out to the range and give them a ride. :)
