So I am buying a P220 from out of state and I was wondering if this means I cannot buy two guns. So Seller FFL (used gun) shipping to FFL (CA). Does this limit me to one in 3 Days? Seller has another gun I would like to get.

I am thinking yes, one in 30 days.

thanks.

Yes, 1 in 30. Buying out of state is not a PPT. PPT's have to take place face to face or via consignment.

agh! Wonder if I can just buy it and ask them to hold it for 30 days.

I don't see why not? They are charging you 10% or something like that, are they not?

I'd suggest checking with your FFL, many FFLs will hold firearms for you while you wait for the 1-in-30 to clear. Better to have your FFL hold it, than to have the seller hold it.

Do you mean the seller?

Good call on the local FFL, ke6guj

Do you mean the seller?I think J-cat is talking about your FFL's transfer fee. Some FFLs charge $75 or more, and that could easily be 10% or more of the value of the gun. And some FFLs do charge a flat rate of 10-15%.

Good call on the local FFL, ke6gujyah, I've heard of some CG'ers that usually have a backlog of handguns waiting for the 1-in-30 to clear. I'd guess that the transfer fees that the buyers were paying to have the handguns transfered would cover a little bit of storage time. And a nice way to eliminate the entire 1-in-30 hassle is to get your C&R FFL + COE. With that, you are exempt from the 1-in-30 for all handguns, C&R and Modern.
