Why on earth won't gun shops do PPT on built lowers when they sell bare lowers! AAAARRRGGGHHHH! :banghead:
I purchased a bare KDF lower from Royal Loan in San Diego a few months ago. A friend has develop an interest in this, so I want to transfer an assembled lower, complete with bullet button, to him. I call Royal - no way!! I can Fine Firearms in La Mesa - no way. They suggest Royal, so I (nicely) tell them it's not going to happen there. They also suggest Discount Gun Mart, which I don't care to deal with - and I think I've read here there might be issues with them anyway. So I'll wait until Don Gussler is open. What a royal pain! Get it?
So much for continuing to buy stuff from Royal - no more. :banghead:
Is this due to DOJ FUD, or what!
Sorry - it was a poor rant...........
all the best,
Mike

Strip the lower and PPT it. Takes about 10 minutes to build it back up after the 10 day waste of time has ran it's course.

Yeah, I know, but it's the freakin' lower they sold me! They asked me to sign a documernt saying I'd use a mag lock and 10 round magazine when I bought it - so I'm complying with their terms, and they still won't PPT the lower! :banghead:

Happened to me as well when I sold a complete Stag-15 with a bullet button to a fellow leo. They acknowledged the legality of BB equipped rifles but wouldn't do the PPT unless I stripped the lower receiver. I told them that I would take my business elsewhere and also mentioned to them that I would inform all my leo collegues and my friends of their decision. They didn't seem to like that, anyway I went to American Shooting Center and did the PPT there.

That is what they think protects them somehow. Just let them know that their policy is completely illogical and since they will be unable to take care of your shooting needs, you will not be returning and you will be recommending your friends also avoid the place. That is about all you can do.

is a PPT a way to transfer it and not have to register it?

Besides getting all huffy and puffy...did you ask them why?

I didn't get huffy or puffy with them. I called, said that I had an KD OLL that I purchased there, now assembled with a bullet button. I then asked "would you do the PPT?" Ethan had answered the phone, went away, came back and asked if only the bullet button was on the lower. I told him "no, it has the other parts in there as well." He then told me "no, we don't do that."
I was consistenly polite, never huffy. :)
