What's a good place to get 308 Winchester on the cheap by the 1000 round case? Also, what are the prices at the gun store and when the gun show comes to town?
I prefer Boxer primed (not berdan) with a reloadable brass case, if at all possible.

If you or a friend has a C&R FFL, Century Intl. has 1970's Indian 7.62x51 on sale this week at $50 per 400 rounds. It comes on 5 round stripper clips in 50 round bandoleers in a 50 cal ammo can. If you buy 10 cans ( $500 worth ) then shipping is free. Otherwise shipping is only $12.50.
This stuff is boxer primed and non-corrosive. It has had MUCH better reviews on the forums than the 1990's and 2000's Indian surplus. Apparently, the engineers from Olin were still hanging out at the factory back in the 1970's.
I feel that the REALLY bad reputation of the 90's and ought's Indian .308 is keeping the price down on this 70's Indian surplus. It could be the "sleeper" deal of the year.
If you don't have access to anybody with a C&R FFL then you may still be able to get this ammo for $60 per 400 round can from Century.

I read some where (not sure) that the Indian ammo is not so good. Check for sale forum here. Someone has Aussy for sale.

I like Outdoor Marksman (http://www.outdoormarksman.com/), MIWALL's online distributor. There is a lot of holes in their stock right now, though. They have Argentine in stock, list South African and Lake City as unavailable. I've bought Australian and Portugese from them at different times.

Good place to research: http://www.m-14forum.com/
consensus seems to be quality surplus ammo is Argentine, South African and Aussie. Surpluse Indian = bad.
I have purchased the surplus Aussie in the blister packs and am happy with it.

One of the fellow range rats at the club I'm a member of has a bunch of the Indian. He basically had to go through the whole batch and weed out the bad ones. Bad being some have deeply seated bullets, deformed shoulders, and deformed bullets; basically the ones that look like they wouldn't be safe to fire. And there were a lot of bad rounds in the lot.
Just don't buy any 70' Chillean ammo or you might get this: This is your Imbel, this is your Imbel on Chillean ammo (http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=54a0d8cce3f451d2253f3dab3cc9b060&threadid=142685)
