View Full Version : 1911 Single Shot Exemption?

I was just brain storming about how to bring in a Fusion 1911 into cali. I have looked at the Springfield SASS and the Pachmayr Dominator but they are pretty rare to come by. The single shot may be somewhat costly, but I think I could sell the kit later on to recoup some of the cost.

On springfield's website, the milspec is 8.5"
I was thinking about getting a 7.5" length barrel. The extra length is just in case DOJ uses the short ruler. That would fill the minimum 6" barrel and 10.5" overall requirement.

Next I would fill a magazine with epoxy so that the follower does not move. Making my own home made bob sled.

Then I could get a cheap mag release, shave it down so that it is somewhat recessed into the frame.

Of course I would have to get all installed before it gets shipped to cali which I don't think would be too much of a problem.

What say you calguns? Will this work as a single shot exemption or am I getting in way over my head?

It's been done this way before.

The SASS uppers don't use the magwell at all, so no need to fill it.

It's GTG.
