I thought that this thing was legal with a maglock but two FFLs I usually use turned me down. What is the deal with that? I guess the nazis have people scared even if its legal. Does anybody know of a bay area FFL that will do my saiga 12 transfer?

Tried the Bay Area Gun Vault (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=bay+area+gun+vault&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=56.462693,113.291016&ie=UTF8&z=13)?
They are OLL friendly and know the laws pretty well.

I've personally had good experiences with Dublin Guns and Knives (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=dublin+guns+and+knives&sll=37.383143,-122.079446&sspn=0.112122,0.221272&ie=UTF8&ll=37.670234,-121.995621&spn=0.433174,0.885086&z=11&iwloc=A).
Mostly a pistol and knife shop but they seem to OLL friendly as well. Several people came to pick up PPTed OLLs while I was there transferring my M4.

Most FFLs don't understand.

I would try Roger's Relics, BAGV, or J&R.

San Jose Gun Exchange is also very OLL Friendly. Gun Vault should do it as well if that is closer to you...

Bay Area Gun Vault said they would do it. Very nice guy I spoke with also.

Thanks for the heads up!

+1 for Roger's Relics and a mag-locked Saiga-12.

J&R have told me repeatedly that they don't know AKs, and therefore won't deal with them--yet.

Irvington Arms will likely do it.

BAGV will do that and more, so try them in a pinch.

DVGW in Pleasant Hill will probably do it. Triple A in Vallejo will also probably do it.

Max capacity is whatever you legally own or acquire. No "fixed 10rd mag" limit.

So a 30-rd drum mag is acceptable as long as it is fixed ?

If you owned it prior to 2000, yes it is.

Irvington Arms will do the transfer. Give them a call (510-226-7910). They charge around $100 and also have a sub-forum here where the owner and shop folks post.

Don't forget my favorite, Rob Blank in Milpitas. RMB Enterprises. You can search for him in the Calguns' Google search, available through my .sig file.

I dont transfer saiga 12's @ Irvington Arms.

I was the first guy brining in Saigas, even while BW was saying it was a NO NO.

I have seen too many problems with brining in "modified" to meet the law issues.

I'd ask Rob.

Bay Area Gun Vault, The Gun Exchange, and Roger's Relics will all do it.

Irvington turned me down. I don't really like dealing with a couple of the guys there anyway, very rude and unpleasant to deal with... only reason I went to them was because they are closeby.

hmm, didn't know about triple A's in vallejo. Right near me, does anyone know how they are with ordering from big online stores? I'd imagine it not sitting well with plenty of shops, especially if they sell similar rifles.

Looking to pick up an AK variant, and I doubt I can find one at any store that's not $200 more than online.

i'm moving up there in 2.5 weeks. Glad i wont have to drive too far to find a good shop. I have been looking into the Saiga 12. i used to own a spas 12, that was a fun shotgun.
