Why didn't someone tell me about this forum before? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I'm looking for a 4" blued S&W M29. I've been looking on and off in my area for the last couple years and have had no luck. Anyone know where I can pick one up in a month or two? I'm in the Bay Area and am willing to pay a reasonable price ($400-600).

Hey Welcome Kev, this is a very friendly site.

I was introduced to this place: http://www.laguns.com a few years ago by one of my friends who owns at least a couple of hundred S&W revolvers. I have been buying guns from them ever since.

There's also a place in Culver City that I go to, lots of used guns as well but no consignment, so the Smith would have to be over 50 years old or be on the CA list.

Definitely Gun List, Shotgun News occasionally. There are a couple of threads from LA Gus already on the forum.

You could also try calling or stopping by local shops that sell used/consignment guns every week or so to see what's on hand.

I see a good variety of used revolvers at Sportsmen's Supply in Campbell. Kerley's in Cupertino gets some through now and again, as well.

Also, some folks have had good luck with putting WTB posts in the for sale forum on this board.

Defenitely check around for gun shops that have consignment guns and then keep checking back. If you are not ready to buy, some will let you put down a small deposit to hold it.

Mr. ShorePaul, if you're not a troll shilling for LA Guns, perhaps you're trying to gain consent to marry the owner's daughter?

It seems to me that every other one of your posts is plug for LA Guns. I know I'm not the only one who's noticed it.

As of today June 11, 2005, out of your 40 posts since joining Calguns, 15 have mentioned LA Guns or included links to the LA Guns website. That's 3/8's of your posts.

Maybe it's not "every other" post, but that is a pretty high ratio. I've heard of customer satisfaction, but it's getting ridiculous.

My apologies KevH. It might help if you post a locale. California's a big state.

I'm in the SF Bay Area, Contra Costa County to be specific. I've checked the local dealers and have looked around here for the last few years to no avail. Every now and then I'll run into a dealer who says he just had one last week and sold it. Usually the dealer tries to sell me a 629. The last Model 27 I saw around here was a 6" barrel that went for $850 (the gun would have been about $400 or less anywhere else). I was just wondering if anyone was selling one or knew a place specializing in consignment of blued S&Ws.

KevH,

N frame Smiths command a premium. Like it was said before, Kerleys in Cupertino is nice. A little low on S&W right now. Saw a 25-? there that was way overpriced. If you are in to Colts this is your place.

Otherwise, don't you have Contra Costa Collectible Firearms up there? Sometimes it helps to call first.

Have you tried Contra Costa CollectibleE FireAarms 1429 Cypress Street - Walnut Creek, CA 94596 (925) 937-3376?

I have bought 3 rifles and one S&W from them in 3 years.

You're scaring me Ted. A great many of my posts are about Smith and Wessons.

I only took note of ShorePaul's posts because two other members had mentioned it and it did seem like he mentioned a specific shop repeatedly since he'd joined in the last few weeks.

A quick count and I came up with the 15 in 40 number. Seems like one of the mods noticed to because this morning, a 41st post with the name of a certain shop in the subject line and containing a link that shops internet presence was deleted after another member replied.

BTW I have nothing against S&W or collectors. One thing that worries me is that I'll get the bug and go broke http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Back to the topic:

While I was at Safer Arms in Chico last week, I did notice at least 3 S&W revolvers in their consignment case. Not being a serious S&W man I don't have any more specifics. IIRC all were blued, all had barrels under 6", all were under $400, one was an Airweight, one might have been a 626 and the last was either a 27 or a 67.

Like I said, I don't know much about S&Ws.

Wow TT, kind of paranoid aren’t we?

Ted (of L A Guns) told me about this forum as I'm sure he has told others, and I’m guessing that more than a few of his clients have posted here. I’ve bought dozens of guns from L A Guns and have been happy enough with the service to keep going back. In fact I will only buy from them unless something changes, or they can’t get me what I want. Is there a problem with recommending your favorite store here? Or is L A Guns the problem? Something must be up because I noticed another poster claiming to be a satisfied L A Guns customer and one of the regulars jumped on him right away. I think the problem is with one or two of the members here (some with only a few posts, all bashing L A Guns BTW) who have issues and are starting trouble. BTW, I don’t think you are one of them TT, as you said, you were “alerted” by them.

L A Guns is a great store, they have gotten me every gun I wanted so far at a fair price when other stores sometimes could not. If the admin has a problem with me mentioning them, or any other store I think highly of, then just let me know. OK Ramon?

Has anybody ever wondered that these trouble makers just might be the shills working for L A Guns competitors?

See, I can be paranoid too.

Actually I noticed it with my own beady eyes.

ROFLAMFAO. Been around long enough to know you're the closest thing to a ringer on this board.

Oh wait, there was the woman selling fashion calendars with pics of underage girls (one she claimed was her own daughter).

BTW Customer satisfaction is one thing, but including a free plug every chance you get is a bit over the top--verging on fanatic.

Shorepaul from here I cant tell where LA Gun ends and you begin. This is not an advertising forum, no other dealer, and there are many here, so blatantly pushes his stuff on this board. We are all tired of it. Sorry if you mean well, I am just pointing it out.

Oh come on, lay off y'all. So the guy is excited about his store. Whatever. I get a teeny bit obsessive when I find a great gun store too...I think that I've mentioned Bigmac and Kerleys a number of times.

Then again, the smileys seem to have dried up again, I might be missing sarcasm... http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

You got me. I get $5 every time I mention L A Guns, and now I made a deal with the guys who do all my custom work.

http://www.kingsgunworks.com/

So that's ten bucks already. Yes I love L A Guns and I love the guys over at Kings Gunworks in Glendale CA. Wow, that's twenty bucks. Of course, since this is one of the most inactive gun forums on the net, I might be over paid.
