Arsenal SGL-20s are very high quality. And are Off-list.

Get yourself a Bulgarian or Polish parts kit and build it up on a NDS receiver.

Polish Tantals are good, but try to get one built with an original barrel. A lot of them have non-chrome lined US made barrels.

Again, not an AK74.

5.45x39 is a 74 to you correct?....If so, yes, Polish tantal is a 74.

I just got my first AK a few weeks ago and I went with a Bulgarian 74 with all black poly furniture. I asked the seller to remove the pistol grip and keep the mag and they had no problem shipping.

I looked at the Tantal but the proprietary hand guard and folding stock keep me away. I now know pinning the folding stock isn't that big of a deal.

The new Russian made SGL-31 looks impressive. It looks to be about 33% more expensive the the Bulgarian I just bought. The one plus is it does have a side rail factory installed. So if you are going for an "authentic" rifle it does look like a late model (early to mid 90s) AK-74.

not! 74 is a 74, tantal is a tantal. all are 5.45. quite a few differences.

That is the complete opposite of what I was trying to say...

the polish tantal is the polocks version of the ak-74

The tantal is a Polish AK in 5.45x39, that is almost the only thing in common with an AK74...

not! 74 is a 74, tantal is a tantal. all are 5.45. quite a few differences.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. People, just because a gun is chambered in 5.45x39 does NOT make it an AK74. Would you consider an AR15 in 5.45 an AK74? Same reasoning applies to the Tantal and AIMS74, they are NOT AK74's.
