Just cerious what guns people keep loaded at all times, and with what ammo, and why.
As for me, I keep all my guns ready to role ( exept for revolvers, which I don't have any of at the moment ) because you never know for sure which you will need in what situation, although I generally keep my rifles reserved for long range stuff, such as if the 1 in a million situation erose where a nabors kid were being hauled off with a kidnapper or some bizare thing like that. My actual choice for home defense is my Colt T-22.

* .22 Magnum MAS 1935-A............Not yet functional.

* Colt T-22.............CCI Velocitors ( highley potent for their caliber.

* Bulgarian Makarov...............Silver Bear JHP ( only ammo I ever bought for the gun.

* Beretta M-92F Inox............Cor Bon 125gr JHP ( low penatration and getting hit by one is like getting hit by a cannon ball.

* Desert Eagle MARK VII .44 Magnum......Miwall 240gr JHP ( most reliable and consistant ammo I can find, and low in penatration.

* SKS...........Remington JSP ( it's that or ball ammo, and I have no desire to further invest in quality ammo for a gun I am trying to sell.

* Enfield No.4...........Remington JSP ( versatile ammo )

* M-1 Carbine...........Winchester 110gr FMJ ( the only ammo I have for it at the moment.

* Mossberg 500..........Federal Heavy Load No.6 ( highley potent at short range and won't overpenatrate.

I don't keep the SAW's, AT-4's, Dragons, SMAWS, Uzis, Mini-Guns, M16's, 81 mm Mortars or M2 Brownings loaded because i don't own any of those either.

The loaded 45 acp pistols I have for personal defense are stocked with black talons...the 9mm contains hydrashoks or corbons and the 40 is loaded with STHPs.

All my pistols are loaded w/ Winchester Ranger T LEO ammo in the .45 or 9mm versions. Fed XM193 in my ARs.

I don't keep any of my 1911's loaded. that'd be way to dangerous. Heck, they might jump up off the table and shoot someone!

If I did keep them loaded, it would be with WW Ranger T or Gold Dot.

Only 2 loaded firearms at a time in this house. The pistol that is nearby, if a 9P is loaded with CorBon 115, if a 45acp is loaded with Rem 230 Golden Sabre. The remaining gun is a Mossberg 590A1 18" next to the bed stuffed with Fed Tactical 00 Buck. This is after all Walnut Creek and almost nothing ever happens here. I don't even get trick or treaters much. I cannot conceive of an occasion where I would need a rifle at all, much less in a hurry. We have diligent PD guys, an alarm system and two very vocal dogs in a neighborhood that is dead asleep by 10 pm except for myself.

When at my home, currently using a 1991A1 Colt loaded with 230gr hydra shok, 2 spare mags also. Also have handy a Taurus 85ch with 158gr LSWHP+P or 110gr standard pressure Win silvertips if I expect my sister will want to use it. Also have a 950bs 25acp Beretta with ball but I usually don't load that one.

Sometimes I'll keep around a 20gauge Mossberg loaded with Win AA trap loads for the first couple to fire and the rest #3 buck or a 12 gauge with the same Win trap loads and #1 Buck to finish.

Sometimes will keep a Taurus 82 or S&W 14 6" with the lead hollowpoints instead of the Government model. Been known to use a Makarov also with 95 grain Barnual hollowpoints or Fiocchi hollowpoints.

Really don't usually feel the need for a defensive rifle but in the extreme unlikelyhood of a repeat of the N. Hollywood bank shootout(I do live next to a couple of banks) if the bad guys decided to try to take cover in my home a SKS, Mosin Nagant, Mauser or M1 carbine variant with ball ammo may be pressed into service.

I sometimes stay at my dads home on weekends and when doing so use a Ruger P95dc loaded with 115gr 9mm +P Remington JHP's.

Why not? Are your firearms purely for sporting purposes only and not for self defense?

Call the FEDS!!!

http://www.calguns.net/bow.gif

Darn AIM 9 sidewinders are getting hard to come by these days, and the price keeps going up.

What is the world coming to?

Can't even get the ammo you need.

Darn inflation. I think its price gouging/fixing.

An instructor once defined a loaded firearm as: "One in the pipe and a full magazine in the well". By that definition, I have no loaded firearms in my household.

That said I'm only a few seconds from having one pistol or rifle ready to fire with a mag down one round from capacity.

FMJ 9mm NATO or 5.56mm NATO.

Associated Press
KABUL, Afghanistan - Authorities are launching a new push to collect U.S.-made Stinger missiles distributed to Afghans fighting Soviet troops... Hussein Fakhri, a senior intelligence official, confirmed a report of the offer on Afghan state television but would not elaborate...It is unclear how many remain unaccounted for, despite cash offers reportedly as high as $150,000 each.
Gen. Mohammed Zahir Azimi, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense, said authorities had recovered four Stingers and other surface-to-air missiles from the south and east..."Stingers are valuable and important weapons. Nobody gives up such a weapon easily," he said.
U.N. spokesman Rick Grant confirmed..."We've come across commanders who've handed in their SAM-7s and their tanks but were asking, in essence: 'Where am I going to sell my Stingers?"' Grant said. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Keep checking Ebay...that all I have to say...

Oh and the original topic of this post?
Only the guns I can use at one time.
I load them with defensive ammo! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The rest of the guns are safe per California standards and each individual round has been laser etched (cold laser that is!) with my SS number, DL number, DNA code and a portrait of me when I was a little boy! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Each round is duct taped with a miniature padlock keeping the ends together.
And each of those are dipped in a special 'marking' wax incase anyone gets through my other California approved storage measures.
Hell! I don't even go shooting anymore since I tripped all the alarms and got stuck for a week in my own traps! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

It's safer to just enjoy the company of other gunowners here on the internet. Whether you all are real or just a figmint (or newton) of my imagination http://www.calguns.net/bow.gif

I carry concealed inside my house all the time... except when I'm taking a shower or doing other bathroom related business which would be too gross to mention. In which case, I keep the bathroom door locked & no one would dare go in there anyway.... http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

p.s. I'm the same guy who posted on page 4 of this thread. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I actually carry at home and at work. I own my own business so no one but my wife knows(and sometimes even she doesn't). I am currently work to get my CCW so I can carry everywhere, but I need to get one more letter of reference and then I am good to go.

I have a Ruger P89 that I keep loaded with some Hydrashocks.

Its good for plinking.

I have had some issues for failing to go into battery with my 1991A1, which feeds 200 gr.SWC mo problem. But can't beat it for the price.

I would not use it for defense.

Maybe I am just getting old but I like 165 grain loadings for the 45 ACP, less recoil, faster followup shots and according to my reload manuals greater velocity.

Springfield 1911 with some Chekoslovakian ammo I forgot the name, good stuff though. Locked away in a pistol case. I used to use my Baretta 9000s in .40 but I'd have more luck tossing it somone than the thing actually working when I need it to.

Never say you "shot to wound" or "shot to kill". The first is a federal offense and the second can get you a murder charge. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

What you do to avoid/defend yourself against a criminal charge can be different for a civil charge. Since civil cases are won/ lost via 'preponderance of evidence' doing some wrong things - i.e., appearing too callous or unsympathetic - can possibly be ruinous.

Even with a 'clean shoot' you'll likely be sued - perhaps even by the estate of the dead perp even with no grieving family around.

Ted's right: expressing "shoot to kill" & "shoot to wound" concepts can dig you a hole criminally and civilly. They show you were more concerned with means/method than outcome: stopping the perpetrator from harming you/your family. The goal of firearms self-defense is to stop the imminent threat(s); those threat(s) are what another reasonable person would perceive them to be.

In the criminal case, a DA has to be convinced he can find 6, 12 etc people that will all vote against you. By contrast if a plaintiff's atty thinks he can convince a large portion of a civil jury there was another option, you might be in trouble civilly.

Don't expect your life to remain the same after shooting a bad guy. I don't care if he's Charles Manson and Ted Bundy wrapped up in one body, there WILL be some civil problems.
