I went in looking to pick up a stag 2tl for my first AR but they had a daniel defense in the shop as well. I like both and to be honest I cant tell the diference. The gentleman behind the counter said theat the daniel defense was a much beter quality AR and the price tag showed it. so here are my options.

1. buy the stag and have some money left over for an aimpoint+ more ammo

2. buy the daniel defense and save up for a little bit to get an aimpoint and ammo.

As the gentleman behind the counter said. The DD is of superior quality to the stag. if this is just a plinker no need to spend the extra cash, theres nothin wrong with the stag.

If your using this rifle for self defense. I would definitely go with the DD set up. Dont go cheap when your life depends on it. Good Luck!

That depends how much of a difference are we talking about? I got my Stag 2T rifle for $1099 and a Stag 2T is very reliable for home defense weapon.

id say neither, you can get a CMMG or BCM upper for around $500 too, those are better than the stag, plus then you can use the extra money on your aimpoint and ammo

Whats the price difference? If not a big one, I'd go with DD.

There may be some differences between the Stag and DD (really just in the barrel steel and testing) but I doubt they would impact anyone when it comes to home defense.

Wow"can't tell the difference", popular opinion is if you spend a whole bunch of money you will be able to shoot a .75" group instead of a .85" group, Bettter pony up that cash a 2000 dollar gun is soooo much better than an 800 dollar gun.

My tip is to put about 800 dollars into a gun, spend the rest at a massage parlor.

if you really want an accurate gun buy a nice bolt action, a nice scope, and a bipod and you're done. Trying to build an accurate ar, is like buying a boat. There is always something to buy or "fix"

wanna buy a boat?

Stag 2TL is lefty? and DD would be righty? If I was a lefty I think i'd go with the lefty gun.

Why are some people acting like the STAG is an inferior choice, do they have quality control issues or something.

Of course we all know Daniel Defense is sort of like the cadillac of AR-15s, but a Stag is still a reliable and trusted Chevy.

I would get the stag over the DD, 2000 is kinda steep to spend on an AR. I'l get the DD later on in my life when i have more experiance with ARs.

Stag 2T with railed forearms are $1100-1200 MSRP right?

Difference is $299-399 range, DD M4 is not $2k, its more like $1500 range

Daniel Defense M4 with omega forearms were $1499 on sale a couple weeks back, comes with VFG (+$50) magpul moe stock (+$50) , one pmag ($+20), magpul trigger guard (+$20)

Hard to put a value on what the Omega vs Samson is worth, DD Omega x 12 FSP is is $350 forearm, samsons are around $250, so +$100 on the rail

overall I can come up with about $240 in price difference in quantifiable parts...

So you are paying a bit of a premium for the DD M4....but overall both are great and you can't go wrong

Stag stuff works great, Daniel Defense makes really sexy parts !

Full disclosure, I own two stag lowers and lots of Daniel Defense rails and accessories, don't own either rifle

You're forgetting that the barrel is much better, the BCG is nicer & it's a DD machined upper (they do some of the nicest forged upper machining).

Whoa, the DD sounds a bit overpriced by about $400.00. Riflegear sells it for 1549.00.

I'm sure DD rifles are very nice and the craftsmanship/Testing that goes into building one is something I wouldn't mind paying $$$ for but not that much! With 2000.00 you could build an AR similar to the DD w/ optics.

The difference in the quality of barrel is probably not like the difference between any barrel and a Noveske. More like LMT/BCM.

-edit-

Bottom line though, if you don't think you are going to rock a carbine course anytime soon w/ your rifle I don't think you will ever notice the difference. But you may start wanting other components for your rifle (like an DD Omega Rail, MAGPUL stock, Troy BUIS etc. :D)

So in that aspect I almost think you should build your own if you can. I find that the most fun I've had in a while.

unless that DD is sporting an aimpoint, overpriced indeed.

It shouldn't be more than $1600.

Bottom line though, if you don't think you are going to rock a carbine course anytime soon w/ your rifle I don't think you will ever notice the difference. Then there are those that spend so much on their rifle that they're afraid to get a scratch on it. Carbine class = boo boos. :43:
