View Full Version : Looking to make some cosmetic changes to my Browning A-Bolt Stalker .270

About a year ago, I picked up a slightly used Browning A-Bolt Stalker in .270win for my yearly deer hunting trips (Utah/Montana) and added a Leupold VX-1 3-9 40mm rifle scope. While I really like the light weight of the polymer stock (makes life much easier when hauling back a big white tail buck), there are a few things i'd like to change. Here is the rifle in it's current configuration:

First off, I'd like to get a different bolt like the Jeweled bolt on my fathers Winchester Model 70 Featherweight seen below. I would assume that any higher grade A-Bolt chambered in .270win would come with a jeweled bolt so i could simply order the part.... unless it needs a smith to fine tune things. I've got to ship Browning my 1923 Fabrique National 16ga A-5 to get a new sear fitted so the trigger properly resets, so perhaps i'll ship them my A-Bolt as well. Ugghh.... I hate having to deal with shipping firearms.

I'm also slightly considering getting rid of the polymer stock and replacing it with a much nicer stock much like the one you see on the Browning A-Bolt Medallion or their White Gold Medallion rifles.

But I have a feeling that would be very expensive for just a cosmetic upgrade. I may just hold off on getting a higher end rifle when I finally decide on what 7mm Mag I prefer, since I've got an Elk tag waiting for me this fall in Hamilton Montana.

Just my .02, I 'd keep the polymer stock. The first time I took my .270 wsm A-Blot Hunter II out, I gouged the ever livin' heck out of the stock. I was carrying three rifles and the freakin deer head hiking out and somewhere did a number on it. The other wood stocks are too fancy for me and I prefer wood stocks.
