What we need is an NRA Rose Bowl float. I bet it would never be allowed, however.

lol.

I can see it now. A BIG gun, made from one of those circus cannons that shoots "Captain Marvelous" across the circus floor, and the guy in a costume shaped like a bullet, firing him into a float 50 feet in front of the gun float through a waterfall target.

Thanks for the thread... I hope the Tea Parties can stay focused this time. this isn't about religion or political party. This is about Americans being taxed into slavery by a corrupt government... we have had dems and repubs in office and neither solved the problem. So it is my hope that we can come together as Americans on july 4th and stop the Willie Lynch politics and start using that angst towards the criminals at the top.

Slavery through the Federal Gov't growing too big. Too powerful. Too much tax. Too much intrusion into our lives. Ignoring the Constitution.

Dems & Repubs are BOTH to blame.

The Tea Parties are a good start.

It's in Pasadena actually; at Memorial Park from 11:00 until 1:00.

Going to miss my weekly IPSC match, which is a bummer, but it's worth it IMO.

I'll be attending the Ventura rally:

Ventura Tea Party Patriots July 4th Event
Ventura, California
Saturday, July 4, 2009
11:00am-2:00pm
Ventura County Government Center
Carla Bonney (organizer)
805 223-4646 (organizer phone)

Cities involved: Ventura, Camarillo, Oxnard, Ojai, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Port Hueneme.

We will have speakers, and people are bringing signs that speak their feelings. We will also have flags. We encourage you to bring friends, family, and lunches. Please keep signs so that they are not obnoxious in any way. Also, we are going to be a peaceful demonstration, interacting with all the traffic that is up and down Victoria. We have A steering committee that is detailing the plans for our direction to effect change after the event.

I figure I can at least dedicate a little time to do what I'm entitled to do on the day that is dedicated to the cause of freedom allowing me to do it!

:D

Bump. Please, try to make it to a rally in your area.

If your going to the Chino Hills rally, I'll be the guy in the Cal Gun tee, and the O.C. Armory cap.

Can we please move the Tea Party stuff to OT since it's not directly RKBA related?

Not related?

Just got back from a Tea Party in San Juan Capistrano. Didn't meet any CalGunners there, but DID meet a number of gun owners that think just like I do. I gave out several of my business cards, and I wrote www.calguns.net on them.

Hopefully, they will check us out.

Both Tea Parties I've been to had no problem with the NRA gear I was wearing. Mostly they seem to be people who object to the all-powerful state, though perhaps another freedom issue is a bigger motivation for them. I have said I'm not sure they're productive, but the right people dislike them.

That said, I suppose 2A may not be the right place. OTOH people think of this forum for "political action," I think, not OT. The Tea Parties are some kind of political action, and perhaps that's why they get discussed here.

I have been to 3 Tea Parties in 2.5 months. They are a very friendly crowd to 2A, and would a good place for a CalGuns table.

I would be willing to bring the table, man the table, and talk to the folks, if someone would provide some appropriate "stuff" to sell/give away.

I guess I could have added that the Pasadena Tea Party was pretty sparse today, which doesn't bode well for the concept as a vehicle of political change.

There was at least 500, I'll bet closer to 1,000 at the Ventura one! Almost both directions of the intersection of the Gov't Center were filled with folks waving flags and signs! Lots and lots of horns beeping too! Great signage!

Carla kept the action going pretty well, had some decent speakers. I signed up for their action plans.

There are a couple more Tea Parties planned for July 17th, mainly at Boxer's and Capps' offices. I hope/plan to go to the one to boot Capps out of there. Thought we had a chance when Kiehl was getting termed out, but she ended up &^%$#$% somebody and got a semi-permanent position in Sacramento.

Hopefully the message can get through to one or both of them to stop screwing us around. Doubt it though. :(

I will say this--it is an audience of people who may not vote on our side specifically, but they are generally friendly or persuadable. There is probably value in "showing the flag" while supporting another issue (the Tea Parties seem to be most of all about tax and spending issues). I want them to remember that Second Amendment people were there supporting them.

That's GREAT! We had about 3,000 at Oceanside last Tax day.

I agree with that statement totally! Not exactly Calguns target audience, but a friendly audience with a fair number of 2A people among them. And if this Tea Party does pick up steam, it would do us well if we were seen supporting them.

Just my 2¢...

I attended the Brentwood Ca tea party today. There were about 300 people, not bad for a small town I guess. About 100 of us took signs out to the streets and Id say 70% of the passing cars honked and gave us the thumbs up. Great way to celebrate Independence Day!!!

We had about 300 in San Juan Capistrano also.

About 200 of us took to the streets for about an hour. About 60% honked and gave us thumbs up, and 3 flipped us off

I went to the Tulare Tea Party (http://www.centralvalleyteaparty.com/) also, held at the Agri-Center (http://www.heritagecomplex.com/index.htm). Had a great time reading all the signs and placards.
http://www.centralvalleyteaparty.com/

We had to leave about 12:40 or so just as it was getting warmed up.

I stamped my money with the stamp Steve the Carpet cleaner (http://www.patriotswillrise.com/) had at his table. Then I promptly spent it all on a couple of NRA raffles. They were giving away 13 firearms on the $10 raffle.
It was for the NRA Foundation Endowment (https://www.nrafoundation.org/about/endowment.asp) with the drawing to be held October 21 at Arroyo Grande Sportsman's Club.
Buy 1 ticket and your name is included in all 13 drawings.

Then a $5 raffle for several others. Also another $10 raffle.

These are all supporters of the Constitution, I didn't see any problems with the 2nd Amendment. In fact we were wanded at the gate and a guy behind told the security gal he had a concealed weapon. She said thanks for telling her and asked if he planned to take it inside and he said yes and came in with no problems. No one around seemed to care. Might just be the central valley mindset or just an indication of the sort of folks that come to these TEA parties. Taxpayers & Producers.

The crowd was all Americans, tired of taxes and tired of the government telling us what we can and cannot do. A relatively quiet crowd as in no screaming, hooting an hollering for no reason. All were on a mission, all were congenial, no belligerents.

Signs were across the board from taxes to water to education to dimwitted Congress as well as a President dismantling the Constitution.

233 years ago 56 men created a miracle on earth and gave hope to the world. This is bigger than just taxes.
