View Full Version : The prettiest pistol (pics)

Yes, of course I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I just finished my quest for the most beautiful pistol (to my eye). I started with an Italian 92FS, gave it a polish and added some beautiful wood grips, and there she is... The prettiest pistol I've ever seen! BTW she's a beaut to shoot as well.

Unfortunately, Sig will not sell you elite grips. The only way to get some are to buy them used. They typically go for about $100 and are TOTALLY worth it. They completely change the look of the gun and they feel great if you have average-large sized hands. They pop up on sigforum.com with relative frequency.

I'm not much into pretty, I want them to do what they need to do. The prettiest I own, at least to my eye, are:

S&W Model 19-3, arguably the best fighting revolver ever.

Dear Sir,

Your pistol is beautiful. However, the grips are a travesty to it's fineness. Please remove them. Day one as a Colt owner should have taught you "no rubber grips on 1911s." We will not call for revocation of you status as a Man, but do not let it happen again.

Most Respectfully,

Slick (on behalf of John Moses Browning himself)

--------------------

:D Kidding, it's yours, and yes, it's beautiful. All the guns in this thread are.

I've been itching for an engraved SAA lately, but some of the things I've been seeing elsewhere and now here make me think I should just send the slide off on my Springer. I'm not looking for full coverage anyway, just my initials and a real simple ivy. :o

When it comes to personal preference on aesthetic handguns, I love the beauty of the Beretta 92FS. Especially with dual tone finish and dark brown grips, too bad this one is not mine.

There are some stunning handguns in this thread. I've seen some real droolers.

I know this isn't the prettiest, but it's my favorite. It started out as a thrashed Argentine Police 1927 Sistema manufactured in 1959. It was rebuilt/customized in 2009. I just put the Esmerelda grips on today. It's essentially a 50+ year old frame and slide with all new innards. ;)

The grips are Beretta made from the mid-80s to early 90s as part of the Beretta Competition Kit.

arguably, all/many guns are awesome...each shoot and feel a certain way, and with that there's personal preferences. that said, if you haven't yet, get your hands on a Sig P229 in .40, and feel first hand how smooth this beauty is....for me, it doesn't get any better.:cool2:
