Hey! i always thought that century arms' fal rifle were banned by name and not features but now i dont see on the list where it talks about century. even if they arent ban the name, there are some kind of restricitons preventing people from modifying the mag catch and selling them in cali for cheap, right?

They should be banned for selling crap.

Sorry, board just needs to know these guys should be takin with a grain of salt. A simple search on FalFiles will help fill in the gaps.

As far as FALs go I have been looking and buying for builds and the receiver (even if it was imported by century is worth looking into as they are the same (somtimes) as Pacwest or any other. Finding these receivers has been the hard part of the build as this is a good time to buy the parts kits as they are plentyfull @ $300.

I am not sure I understand your question, but the only ones I am aware that is banned by name is the FN-FAL and CETME Sporter from the most common ones. You can build your own from an Imbel receivers and modify the mag catch; manufacturers make further modifications to get approved.

actually from what i hear the recent century rifles are really damn good, good parkerizing and nice brand new barrels and such.

What i was trying to ask was if a century-made rifle was modified for a fixed mag, would it be lagal in cali? or are there some kind of other laws prventing it?

You heard wrong. Century still produces crap. It's a 50/50 shot with them. Sometimes you luck out and other times, you have to really put some work into their rifles. There's a reason they are regarded so lowly.

Listen to the man and if you don't believe him go to Falfiles (http://www.falfiles.com) and read it for yourself. Best to build on DSA or Imbel.

A couple of months back I saw a Century that had been modded into a fixed mag FAL at a Cow Palace gun show. It looked like a homemade fix. The mag had actually been welded to the reciever and their were sloppy beads on both sides of the mag where it entered the mag well.

for 100 bucks i would buy it http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Century's idea of headspace adjustment is a drunk on a Dremel.

From their Garand stuff (with many complaints of tight tight chambers/short headspace) I wouldn't touch anything of theirs. My face is ugly enough w/o a gun blowing up in front of it...
